They had the LeCreuset 8 qt. Oval French oven at Costco for $169 if anyone is interested.

:scared1: I just bought the 9 quart this summer at the outlet and paid about $125 for a first!!(they were having a huge sale and I got lucky) But so far only used it once. Now that soup and stew season is coming I can't wait to use it. That would be a great gift for someone... hmmm who who??

What is so special about the LeCreuset pots? I have seen them all over and the price is heart stopping.

LC is known for its enameled cast iron and they come in beautiful colors. They last a really long time and are "healthy" cookware unlike Teflon. Generally, they can be used on the stovetop and oven, too.

They also have products made of silicone, enamel on steel, and traditional stoneware.

I bought mine's used on ebay.

They are heavy duty pots that last a lifetime. You can cook with them on top of the stove or in the oven. They conduct heat extremely well so you use a lower temperature. And they are easy to clean.

I love making pot roasts, osso bucco, and roast chickens in them. I just bought a 9 qt. round french oven and I plan to make my soups in it. I also love making my Bolognese sauce (meat sauce) in it because it heats evenly and you have to cook it for 3-4 hours.

I love to cook and I get a lot of use of out them so I don't mind paying the price. :)

I'm glad you asked because I've always wondered the same thing! Even at places like Tuesday Morning it's so expensive. Perhaps I'll get to try it some day if I run across a really, really, really good deal :)

Are the ones at Costco "seconds" or are they just selling them for a good price? I have a LeCreuset baking dish and it is just incredible. I would love to get a dutch oven!

NO they aren't seconds like the ones sold in the LeCreuset outlet stores.

They are brand new in boxes. :)

I don't know if they carry them in all of the Costco stores. Last year they had them in my Florida Costco, and this year they are in my NJ Costco.

LC is great! I have two of the french ovens, the smaller one and the medium sized one. I cook pot roast in them, soups, sauces, you name it. As others mentioned they are super heat conductors so you can cook/simmer at low temperatures. I will spray mine with a little oil, then clean them up with a MR. Clean eraser, they're that easy.
