LeCellier

I agree-there is no reason to be a BULLY. This is a forum for discussion and while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, you can be polite!!!

Trust me, whenever anyone expresses a) the desire to eat there, or b) an inkling of praise, the People's Front of Overrated come out of the woodwork.

But I'm here to fight the overrated. 'Cuz I hate that word. Loathe it. Despise it. I find the word overrated overused and... overrated. :surfweb:

We have eaten at Le Cellier many times and never had a bad experience - they've all been very good, actually.

Does is compare to Jiko? Heck no - that's probably the best restaurant on property in our book. But do we like Le Cellier? Will we keep going back? Heck yeah! :thumbsup2

And we've always had GREAT service!

Our server last month was Brendan and he was a fabulous server!

Yesterday I was able to snag a 5pm for Dec 10. It must have been part of a release of times because a friend of mine got a 5:55 time slot on the same day. Both parties of 4.

About walk-ups...my BIL, SIL, MIL, FIL and niece were able to walk up and get a seat at 5:30 pm the Sat before MLK day! She didn't believe me that reservations were hard to get after that...until they went again without us with no ADR's in May.

I just scored resies for 6:50 on 11/7. I was so excited 'cause they were all booked up the first time I checked. My husband was really disappointed, he loved it last time, so I check a second time and there it was. At a normal dining hour too! It's a Disney miracle.

Yes in my opinion Le Cellier is overrated. Yes, I said overrated. It is not worth being booked up six months ahead. But then I do not order steak in restaurants so I have no idea how good the steak is.

I like the mussels but I won't go out of my way to get up at 6 AM six months ahead and make a reservation there. I have a reservation September 4. I didn't make it 6 months ahead. I have had what I consider to be better food in several places on WDW property (most of which are at the Swan or Dolphin)

My server last year was very attentive, but he obviously did not understand why I would bother to come to Le Cellier and 1) not be on the dining plan and 2) not want to order steak. I could have done without his incredulity. I plan to order 3 appetizers this time and would prefer not to hear "are you sure you don't want this entree"

Back in May I snagged an early walk in lunch. I was shocked, because they usually just giggle when you show up there without a reservation.

Best hamburger I ever had too. And you can't miss the cheddar cheese soup.

I was checking the November Cancellation Thread and saw that someone canceled Le Cellier for 4:20 and I went online right away and got 2 at 4:40, which is even better because It is later and the original reso was for 5 and ours were for two. I feel very lucky because I have never been there and am excited to go for dinner before it changes to two credits.
I guess what worked for is checking the Cancellation thread, so just check that. Good luck!

I've been trying to get dinner at Le Cellier for a week now. Congrats to the two of you that snagged ressies there.

Curious -- What other restaurants with good steaks would y'all recommend? (Doesn't matter if it is on the DDP but don't give me $50.00 steaks either.)

I have only been to Le Cellier once and I fell in love with the mushroom risotto! Can you get this stuff anywhere else?

Has anyone else been having difficulty reserving a dinner in march? We are going to be there the first week of the month and it says ZERO available dinners already online... I called and they made one for me but now I can't retrieve the reservation with the # they gave me. I called back to confirm and they said I was OK?

I was able to book our three dining reservations for Le Cellier for our trip in January 2011 this week - I am beyond excited!! :cool1: I had always ordered the strip steak but on our last trip I 'discovered' the filet with mushroom risotto - I love it! I wish I could find something similar in NY.

Available now --
11/2 at 8:15 p.m.

This one is too late in the day for us but thought someone else might want to try to get it.

I'm checking online several times a day for a dinner ressie but don't want to eat that late since we normally do our big meal at lunch time. I can't imagine going to bed with all that food in my belly!

We were lucky enough to score a walk in late January. It was about the time they opened, soon after 11a... So you never know! Hope it works out for you!

OH! OH! I got it! Finally! I have been trying for months for 09/20 lunchtime and I got it by accident! I went on and meant to search for the 21st for a different park and I forgot to put in the time I wanted, so it defaulted to 2:30pm. I even forgot to put in the 6 people I wanted to search for and so that defaulted to 2. :rotfl2: And there it was. It was a slow dawning that it was exactly what I had been searching for. LOL My mom had been planning to watch the kids on the 20th so dh and I can go out but I had all but given up the search. I guess it was meant to be! :goodvibes Keep trying, they will turn up! :thumbsup2

For anyone looking in November, there is a reservation (up to four people) open at 4:15pm on November 17th. Good luck! :thumbsup2

Yachtsmans is also great - I think better than Le Cellier, but the best steak we had was at Downtown Disney - Planet Hollywood!

I was able to get a ressie on only one night of our trip at 7:50p. We have never been, and since it will still be one dining credit on the DDP, I booked it. Does anybody know if that time will give us enough time to watch Illuminations, which I think starts at 9p?

And after reading some of these posts, it reminds me that yeah, the best dining in WDW is not really the best in the real world, just good. I also got a ressie at California Grill, as I did 4 years ago. It was good, but not super fabulous; as in worth 2 dining credits. Meh. Will think about it. TIA if you have info on my question above. pirate:
