Has anyone ordered something off the lunch menu at dinner at LeCellier?
If not have you been able to make changes to an entree for example not mushrooms on the mushroom filet and substitute potatoes for risotto?
Thanks

We've substituted sides with no problems. I wouldn't think they'd have a problem leaving the mushrooms off of the filet, either. I don't know about ordering lunch stuff at dinner, but maybe someone else who does will chime in. :)

They allowed DH to order his filet without the mushrooms or truffle butter sauce and substitute the mashed potatoes, but when I asked to substitute the asparagus, our waitress said that change wasn't permitted. Not sure why that change wasn't ok since the price of all the sides is the same, but it never hurts to ask.

I ordered the filet with no mushrooms and they served it too me dry. I thought they could have just strained the mushrooms out. It also was not prepared the way I asked for it--I wanted medium and it was quite well done. After sending it back I got rare with the sauce. The mushrooms were easy to take off on my own since they were larger. Unfortunately I did not eat much of the filet since my family was already done eating by the time they brought it back. I think I heard it mooing on my plate anyhow.

Well, but some sides are a "comes with" while others are "separately-priced". Sure, the mashed potatoes happen to be in both categories, but that's the ONLY overlap. But where was I? Oh yeah - since the asparagus, and the spinach, and maybe some other sides, aren't in the "comes with" category, it's perfectly reasonable and understandable that they can't be ordered as substitutions.

They probably could have done that, if you'd be specific - but since, most likely, in Le Cellier's experience Guests who request no mushrooms want NO mushrooms, and since even if they're strained out there's still mushroom essence, or small bits, in the sauce, they resolve the issue by serving the steak 'dry'.

Last time we were there (Feb. 08) we asked to order a hamburger for my son from the lunch menu, however, our server told us they would not be able prepare one for him at dinner. He was disappointed because hamburgers are his favorite. We tried to convince him to order a steak, but he wouldn't. I think he ended up with the kid's hot dog. Our friend was able to special order her steak... don't really remember what she wanted changed, but they said it was no problem.
