We'll be eating for the first time at Le Cellier... I've never gone because I'm Canadian, and I thought it was silly to spend my time at the Canadian pavilion!! :rotfl: But, I've heard such great things, we had to try!

My questions are...

We will be on the dining plan, and we usually share entrees. What are the portion sizes like?

And, what should we order for an appetizer, entree and dessert???? I've heard lots about the cheese soup, but we're not beer fans.

Thanks everyone! :cheer2:

We enjoy the shrimp with wasabi slaw as an appetizer. The entree sizes are more than adequate when you are ordering an app, entree and dessert. i am personally unable to eat half of what is served and I have a healthy appetite.

I LOVE the cheese soup, but hate beer!!! The portion sizes aren't huge but plenty for one person. I usually get the same thing at Le Cellier...Cheese soup, Maple Glazed Filet with cream cheese potatoes and Maple Creme Brulee, YUM!!! We love Le Cellier so much, for our August trip we have 2 ADRs... :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

If you like cheese, go for the cheese selection as an app. It blew me away! I wouldn't hesitate to get the cheese soup, it doesn't taste like beer at all. The wasabi shrimp are tangy and delish.

For an entree, get the Strip, cooked med. rare.

For desert, go for the sorbet and the whisky cake.

The portion sizes are big enough to share. But if you are like me, nobody is getting to the cheese selection.

:thumbsup2

I think I am going for the Cheese soup/Maple Filet/Creme Brulee combo! Yum! I can't wait. I have heard such good things about this place!

The various steaks range from 7 to 14 ounces. The menu details the sizes. Personally, I love the maple filet, but that's only 7 ounces. The pretzel bread on the tables is totally wonderful.

The cheese soup is good, as is the barley. I think I had the shrimp last time==very good. The chocolate cake (whiskey cake) is totally wonderful. They brought DD a small taste of the cheese soup so she could decide whether she liked it before ordering.

The 7 ounce entree is a bit small for sharing, but the appetizers and desserts are large. If you got a 10 or 14 ounce steak, sharing would work fine.

When we were there I had the mixed field greens salad which was large and excellent. I hadn't heard it mentioned here, but I heard about it on the inside the Magic Podcast and I went for it. It was amazing. My husband had the cheese soup and it was also good, but that salad was excellent.

As for entrees, we both had filets -- Dh had the maple glazed and I had the mushroom (yummy!). They were both outstanding -- perfectly cooked and just the right size for one. If you're sharing, I'd get something bigger or just splurge and actually get your own entrees.

Desserts were wonderful as well -- maple creme brulee and the chocolate "moose".

Another bonus about our meal there was the frozen non-alcoholic drink they let me get on the dining plan with no extra charge and the fact that they threw in my son's hot dog meal for free, too! You already get the most bang for your dining plan buck here and then they threw in that on top of it all! What a great place! Good thing we're going back in September!

You can share on the dining plan?...You can order one table service meal and share it...didn't know that was possisble. New to me..never booked dining (or a package for that matter) and was checking here because I've heard so many good things about it.

Yes, with one TS credit you get an appetizer, entree, and dessert, so if you order wisely you should certainly be able to get enough food to share. You could also opt to pay out of pocket for another appetizer or salad if you wanted a little more food, but not two entrees. But, since you have to buy the plan for everyone in your party, it doesn't make sense to share a lot of meals unless you are eating 2 table service a day, KWIM?

You're not allowed to order an extra entree and pay OOP?

Depends on who you ask...I love the shrimp, and my wife always chooses the soup. We usually share with each other to get a taste of each.

Really depends on what you are in the mood for. The shrimp has a spicy flavor and the soup is more mellow. Both delicious!

Thats what I was thinking of here. Also, maybe I am a horrible rotten person for thinking of this :lmao: but~ We'll be with my kids, one of them will be 2y, and I could order her the steak kids meal, and *help her* eat it :lmao: I could easilly share soup or salad w my dd 15 (dh will want some seafood (bleh) and could dig into both desserts, and maybe lil Ariel will *have To* have the chocolate mousse!!! :rotfl2:

We weren't fans of the cheese soup (and we normally LOVE cheese soup). We don't like beer, and you could really taste it.

We loved the mussels appetizer. Mmmmmm.

The cheese soup is so good! I could almost make a meal out of that and the prezel bread!

Anyone been for lunch and had the sliced prime rib french dip sandwhich? Im thinking of trying this or the grilled petite fillet..I couldnt get dinner ADRs so I took lunch instead and the menu is different unfortunatley..I have a feeling the specials at dinner are much better..

We paid for dining (on DDE) and have experienced this restaurant twice, both February this year (1-dinner, 1-Lunch)

I had the icewine martini :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
The icewine is very good, but I have had much better in Canada (Niagara).

The cheese soup is awesome. We had it this year in the restaurant and as a snack for F&W :thumbsup2 We have tried to make it at home and the result was nowhere near the same.

For dinner I had mushroom risotto filet - filet is my favorite cut and I am particular about this. It was excellent. DH had a herb crusted prime rib which was awesome as well. DD had the childrens steak - very good, too.

We were filled after this.

DD had the smores dessert, which we all shared.

For lunch, DD had the steak again, and we also had the soup. I had the french dip. It was OK. The experience was good, but not the same as at night. Don't remember what sandwich DH had. One word of caution - stay away from the potato salad - have the fries instead.

The cheddar cheese soup is great, and I too, am not a huge beer fan. The mixed greens salad is also very good. DD likes the Shrimp w/ Wasabi slaw, and the mussels are good. for entree, the filet - either one - is really good. Dessert? I'm a creme brulee fan, so the Maple creme brulee is my pick, but the sorbet that DD got was really good.
