LeCellier - so disappointing

That's exactly what you should have told the waiter when you asked for a replacement prime rib.

Complaining on DIS is a way to vent. Complaining at the time of service, and requesting a new meal is a way to solve your problem. Enough guests do the same and the restaurant has to do a better job.

I totally agree... was going to say the same thing!

I am sorry, OP, for your experience. I did want to mention that the Prime Rib at Le Cellier often gets bad review...the gristle, etc.

To the OP so sorry that you did not have a good expierience. I have always had a great meal there and hope to on my next trip. The best fillet I ever had was at Mastro's in Beverly Hills CA and and although it didn't touch that expierience I enjoyed myself. I am glad to hear you had a great expierience at Ohana and that gets mixed reviews also. I hope the rest of your dining went well.

We experienced LC for the first time in January and had a wonderful meal. Our waiter was great and, when asked for a recommendation, stated this is a steak house and the reason it is hard to get an ADR here is because of the filet. So I had the filet and he was right-it was fabulous. Others in the group tried other steaks and liked them well enough but everyone wished they had ordered the filet. I feel lucky I stayed away from the Prime Rib. It sounds awful.

We've taken Le C off our list of must do meals as well. Just too many gristley fatty steaks that were not cooked properly. Yes we know we can request a new one but when you've already waited past your ADR time to be seated and service has been oh so slow you just want to move on with your life ;) For steak we now go to Yachtsman and have had much better experiences and find it's worth the money which was only the case for Le C when on the DDP.

Every time we have been to LeCellier the seating has been terrible. We have always been crammed against neighbors. Once we were by the bathroom path and spent the whole meal trying to scoot out of everyone's way!

We just don't go back anymore. We'd rather spend a bit more money and go to Yachtsman Steakhouse. The food is so much better and so is the atmosphere.

Very unfortunate...but sadly venting here accomplishes little. You need to express your disappointment and concerns at the restaurant at the time to have anything constructive come of it.:confused3

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I have had 4 great meals there in the last few years, the most recent just 3 weeks ago. I always get the filet, so I have no experience with the Prime Rib though. I mainly go for the cheddar cheese soup and the pretzel breadsticks. I just cannot get them anywhere else and when I make it myself, it still isn't right. So I will continue to go as long as I can get my soup and breadsticks.

OP: sorry you had such a bad experience. :guilty:
we were able to snag a reservation last trip again, (my son loves the place) and we had the most amazing dining experience.
the food was great, the table was good and the waiter was awesome.
The waiter was so personable, not rushed and very attentive. He did two special things for us. My son had gotten a dessert that was "decorated" for his accomplishment which was noted on our reservation, mos earlier, such a lovely surprise. We were also celebrating our anniversary that week and they brought a yummy dessert to share. The food was very good and the whole dinner was really what we have come to expect from disney.
I think that if it were me, and I was served food that I thought was poorly prepared I would ask for some assistance from the wait staff,. If i was not satisfied, my tip would reflect that. If I felt mistreated, I would ask to speak with a manager. I really think that the time to "speak up" is at the time it happens. ;) This is when the staff can do something for you. ;) They want you to return, so its your best shot at getting satisfaction. I think every establishment has an off day, but I agree that it really stinks when it is on your vacation!

I haven't been on the Dis in quite a while....too depressing! :lmao: But, when is Le Cellier going signature??? Quite disappointing. The food was great when we ate there, but I definitely wouldn't consider it a signature meal.

The menu will change when they become Signature...they will have the cuisine to match the rating...:)

Read my post #20. Voicing a concern to the hostess did nothing. Voicing my concern to the manager did nothing. Voicing my concern to Customer Relations did nothing. Sending a letter and an email to WDW did nothing.

Your point is logical and very true, and in most cases would be the correct thing to do. However, not always does the other party (in my case Le'Cellier) have a sympathetic ear. This is the first and only time I have ever had a restaurant tell me they would not seat me at a different table. I should also say we were only a party of three. This should have been a fairly easy request, it's not like we were a party of eight. :confused3

Goodness, that is awful. In the 39 years I have been going to WDW I can truly say I have never had an issue that wasn't imediately resolved. Not sure what to tell you...it must have been a most unusual day there!:confused3

3) Check other boards. As much as I love the dis, sorry guys we are not a reliable source for unbiased reviews. Most of the time if you post a less than stellar review, you will be told either a) it was some how your fault b) you are a negative person who should grovel on the ground because you are at disney world c) you're at a theme park you should expect mediocre food at high prices.
I routinely check Tripadvisors and allears simply to get a more "balanced" view.

Right on!!!!

I have not had many incidents where I needed to complained or voice a concern, for the most part I'm really easy to please. And I will say, this is the only time I was flat out refused a request that was simple to rectify, a different table. And I agree, the few times I've ever had a problem WDW has been quick to resolve those concerns.

Perhaps she was testy because the waiting was backed up over 45 minutes and some people were getting moody. It was very loud, very crowded, very hectic, and I'm sure she was under a lot of stress as the manager. But this would still not be an excuse.

I don't know what was wrong that day. Perhaps it's because I was wearing an Ohio State shirt and she was a Michigan Wolverine fan. :rotfl2:

I normally do not change or worry over reservations due to bad reviews but I have to say this one (and several others) have me wondering. My dh and I are going to have an anniversary lunch there in June just us while the kids go to Blizzard Beach. I have only eaten there once and the food was very good, but I do remember feeling like I had more privacy and space in the POFQ food court that morning! It was kind of insane to have tables that close to be honest.

I just do not want to be crammed in there on our one and only day to have a quiet lunch for two!

Wow, it's sad to hear Le Cellier has hit a slump... my meals there have always been wonderful. The Dining Plan claims another one...

I think that Disney food in general as gone way done hill in the past 5 years. We used to love to eat at Cinderella Castle and Le Cellier but now it is not worth the money to eat at either one. We ate at Cinderella Castle for my daughter's birthday and the whole experience was a let down from the service to the food. I'm not sure where we will eat when we go in May.

I got to agree and after 8 visits in the past 10 years I have noticed the food quality has gone way downhill. Lat May I did Cinderella Castle for the last time because it was damn disappointing and just isn't worth it price wise. My prime rib was like something I would expect from Applebees. This past December I was there for over a week and for the exception of Boma at night and in the morning, I was greatly disappointed in the food. In fact all 6 of us on that trip noticed it and got so frustrated that we went offsite to eat a few times. From now on and as a dvc member, I'll just rent a car and go offsite and I found it wasn't that much of a hastle. IMO, if it isn't the pain in the rear experience of trying to book and plan all of your ADR's, then you're eating overpriced, very mediocre food. Don't get me wrong, I love Disney theme parks and love being a dvc member, but the food just isn't worth it anymore. You can thank the dining plan for that.

I agree. I think the dining plan has a lot to do with it.

When I am given a bad table (with no alternatives) or a dirty table (that someone comes over and 'cleans' with a dirty old cloth, I just leave. I'd rather go hungry.
