Hey, anybody out there besides me that really misses LeCellier's Maple Barbeque Filet Mignon??? I keep hoping pixiedust: the Chefs will decide to bring it back! To me, that steak and the Cheddar Cheese Soup made LeCellier really stand out from the other restaurants of the World Showcase.

Chef's Panel - please hear my plea and return my Maple Barbeque steak to me!:wizard:

Not long after the menu changed, someone spoke with the Chef - who apparently does not intend to bring back this particular menu item.

I realize poultry isn't beef - but isn't there a chicken with some type of barbecue sauce/glaze? Given the complaints of so little variety as it is, it's unlikely any restaurant with only a few entrees (i.e. any Disney restaurant) would offer two similarly-flavored or -sauced items.

Oh, it was. I am not a red meat eater, but I made an exception...

The good news about all this is now I don't have to struggle to get ADRs at Le Cellier.

It was my favorite entree. I gave the prime rib a try on our last trip. It was good, but it didn't measure up to the maple filet mignon. JMHO.

My wife and I just had it yesterday. We didn't see it on the lunch menu, and just asked, and our sever said no problem. My wife would have liked the filet better w/o the glaze, but I liked it a lot. It's just that it was so small. I guess lunch portions are supposed to be small, but at $26.99 you expect more than about 4-5 oz. I would definitely like to see it brought back on the menu, but at least for now they seem to be making it for you if you ask. It is Disney after all.

When they first took it off the menu, they refused to make it for people. They must have changed their minds. But I mean, it has to be simple. They just cook the filet, and put the maple glaze they use on the salmon on the steak instead.

They already have the ingredients for it...it just seems to be a matter of whether or not the chef wants to make it.

I switched over to the mushroom filet a couple of years ago and have loved it.

This is because it is a victim of the Basic Disney Dining Plan!

Unfortunately, many people on the DDP, whether they pay for it directly or paying a higher rate for their room and getting "free" dining, look to the highest price items on the menu. This is based either on the attitude of "I paid for it and can get whatever I want" or "as long as it's free, let's get the best items".

For example, at Le Cellier where is a $22.50 difference in price between the lowest price adult lunch entree and the highest price dinner entree. Each restaturant receives a fixed dollar amount credit for each meal sold under DDP. Each restaurant has to make a profit.

As food costs go up it takes more money to operate a restaurant.

So as things progress more and more of the higher end cost items will vanish.

The signature restaurants do not have so much of a problem as they get paid double the regular restaurants.

If they ever do away with the Basic DDP within about six months you will find a lot more high end selections at all the restaurants.

Stephie I'd like to know that too. I'd also like to know if it is good without the mushrooms. We actually don't go to Le Cellier BECAUSE the filet has mushrooms on it. I love filets, but absolutely hate mushrooms. The maple barbeque filet sounds great. If that was on the menu, I would definitely want to go!

But, that doesn't seem to apply in this specific instance - at least to me. Le Cellier serves filet; it's one of their most-ordered entrees. They already have the maple glaze prepared, as indicated in one of the posts above, for the salmon. So - again, for this one dish - there's no additional cost involved.

Now, frankly, it doesn't faze me if they never bring it back. I don't particularly care for maple, and I don't like barbecue sauce in any version. But then, I'm not MOST of Le Cellier's fans :teeth: I'm perfectly happy with my mushroom filet with risotto...

...which brings me to - YES, to the posters who asked; you absolutely can order the filet plain. The mushrooms are in the 'sauce' added to the steak.

I never got the chance to have it they took it off the menu just before I had my first dinner there. For years I didnt go to the place for whatever reason. We went last year and tried the new KC strip with coffee rub. You have to try this. OMG it was so good. I think it is one of our new favorite meals. I have to say LC lived up to the hype for us. We are going back in just a few weeks!!

Yeah, but there are some folks who will blame the dining plan for every menu change they don't like, even those that aren't cost-related.

I remember when we were planning our last trip, Disney was having a supplier problem and temporarily removed lamb from the menus at the restaurants they own. There were plenty of people who attributed that to the dining plan and were sure it would never be back... But lo and behold, Disney must have resolved their issues in getting lamb because it is there on several menus that I've perused for our next trip.

I was sad to see the maple filet gone from the menu too especially since I dislike mushrooms. However, I just ate there last October and got the Mushroom Filet -- well really, I got my own version of the filet. I ordered it with the cream cheese mashed potatoes instead of the risotto and they put the same sauce on it that comes with the mushroom filet (not sure what it was exactly but it was delicious!) with no additional mushrooms on top. The meal was great -- I think I even liked it better than the maple filet. I'll be enjoying this meal again in a few weeks!:cool1:

It was my favorite too. I'm not fond of the mushroom filet.

What a perfect way to ruin a steak! I tried it and never regreted a dinner order more. The mushroom filet is so better. IMO:thumbsup2
