LeCellier or Yachtsman Steakhouse?

Joining the club, YS all the way, even if we were to pay for it OOP. Years ago, LC used to make a big deal about PRIME beef, we use only PRIME beef, yada yada yada. Then, it was a pretty good steak for a theme park restaurant. (We always pay OOP, last trip was DDP and we did not care for it at all). THe last two times at LC were mediocre at best and the service was worse than that. YS, on the other hand, was delicious, steaks cooked perfectly, our girls shared the chateaubriand for two, I had the ribeye and DH the Porterhouse, all were delicious. The only reason we are not doing it this upcoming meal is we also have DD13's friend with us and I cannot justify over $200 on a meal without tip this trip. I'm trying to keep her portion of the cost down and would hate to spring that on her folks.

If it is a choice between the two I would go with YS. I like the Flying Fish and Cali. Grill much better. I liked my meal at Shula's, but the atmosphere left me flat. I suppose ordering off a football (yes, the menu was a football) in a room that was so dark I could barely see my food is appealing to some, but I am not one of them. Although everyone keeps saying Shula is off property, it is a short walk over the bridge from the Broadwalk and the Yacht Club. Have a blast on your trip.

Has anyone had the chautabraund (sp?) for 2? Any thoughts on it would be appreciated. TIA

My DDs 11 & 13 had that and it was a nice sized portion. The Bernaise was on the side (ick, a sauce, you knoe how kids are). The mushrooms were enough for all of us to share. I think it was like four medallions each, plus your side and the mushrooms. Melt in you mouth tender too.

To throw another log on the fire, Fultons Crab house in DD has a nice 8oz filet that makes a regular appreance on the dinner menu. To me, Fultons does a good job for "on property" restaurants, though, it is not on the DDP.

Thanks, everyone, for your input. I'll check with the others in the party, but will probably cancel LeCellier -- unless everyone else is determined to stay in the park for dinner. I'll post it on the August trade board if I do.

Obviously, if it takes 1TS and Yachtsman takes 2TS, then a lesser steak might be worth it. But, paying out of pocket, the three dollar difference between the filets is minimal given Yachtsman's better atmosphere and, based on the responses here, better steak.

We may also just give up completely and go to Shula's. I, too, wasn't thrilled with the football theme and when DH and I have gone, it always seems filled with loud and, frankly, boorish and drunk conventioneers. But, they do serve an excellent steak.

Thanks for the Fulton's tip, too. I always think of Fulton's for seafood. Nice to know they serve a good steak.

Thanks again!

I've been to Le Cellier a few times and we find Jiko to have a much better steak! Now you all have me intriqued by YS and Shulas! How does the filet at Jiko compare to to YS and Shula's steak?

Hi, I'm glad I read this thread, can someone please tell me more about Mortons. My DF (the carnivore extrodinaire) and I are looking for somewhere romantic to eat in Orlando while on our honeymoon, and we'll have a vehicle available. What is the ambiance like?

Yachtsman is better, hands down. Better service, better steak.

That being said, Le Cellier is great theme park food, definitely above average.

IMHO, I'm from New York, and both steakhouses pale in comparison to real steakhouses off property and in my area.

Me too and neither of them are Peter Lugers but I did enjoy the Yachtsman

OMG, just re read the post wher someone mentioned there is only a $3 difference in the price of the fillets now? When did LC jack up the prices so much? DEfinitely YS then!
