LeCellier 2 credits starting in March ?

What doesn't make sense to me is starting it mid-year. You would think that if this is a move Disney wants to make, they'd make it effective in January so that it could be accurately reflected on the DDP brochures/restaurant listings for 2011.

It makes perfect sense as ADR's are made 180 days out. Could you imagine all of those people that booked Le Cellier for Dinner now being told that they were quoted 1TS but now it is 2TS? Disney would have a veritable nightmare on their hands and I'm not talking about the Jack Skellington kind!

Wait until the 2011 Dine Package .pdf's come out and that will be the proof on whether it is 1 or 2 TS. Actually the DDP brochure/restaurant listings have not yet been published so they will be completely accurate when they come one day soon.

:cool1:

Ah, but if they're not switching over until March they may not have updated brochures until March. That's part of what is crazy about this decision.

I bet if it's true, WDW thinks it's dodging a bullet this way. I guess they think the DDP guests can't complain too much because lunch is still one credit. But if they think it's cutthroat for reservations now, people will be clamoring even louder for lunch reservations. And if you've already made your reservation for January or February you can't storm in now declaring that you'll only pay one credit for dinner because that's what it was when you booked it.

The source that they're quoting is a source that I could easily write for and announce in a 'news' article that TDC Nala will be the next President of the United States.

:scared1:

No thanks, behind the scenes would be a better place to be.

Maybe they are putting this out there to gauge the reaction? IMO I did not think it was worth 1 credit to begin with, much better steak at Coral.

Well now allears has the story on the main page, so I guess there is some weight to this.

Still, this is beyond a bizarre move. Any bets that the dinner menu is 2 credits based on difficulty of booking and that the menu doesnt change much? I dont see how a smallish restaurant could service both high/lower end menus.

So, what happens if you have a late lunch but arent seated until the beginning of dinner service? :headache:

I said it above and am not trying to beat a dead horse, but I have seen AllEars post incorrect information before.

If you are seated late, they would still need to charge you for lunch as that is something you have no control over.

I can't imagine Le Cellier as a 2 credit restaurant unless they change their menu. Their prices are pretty much in line with other EPCOT restaurants so I am not sure what would warrant 2 credits at this point. It would also make it the only 2 credit restaurant in EPCOT.

I agree but I am worried they will increase prices for people paying OOP like me. If they don't increase prices this could be a move to get more locals back in there eating by freeing up tables. More locals= more AP sales. just a thought on possibilities behind the why dinner and not lunch.

Glad we are booked for this year then...I love LeCellier-been dreaming of risiotto for months now but I don't think anyplace is worth 2TS credits. My goal with the DP is not to oop for any food. There are too many other places to check out.

We've never actually had dinner there because I prefer the lunch menu (even though a lot of it is the same there are minor differences and the prices are less) but I can't really see this being a 2 TS credit meal. If they are going to charge 2TS credits for it I hope that they go back to the portion sizes that they used to have. The 'chocolate moose' used to almost stretch the diameter of the plate and now it looks like a mini moose. ;)

I'm still hoping that we'll see the end of the DDP soon.

Dining Plan isn't all bad... I just wish they'd improve it.... I like the original one with tip and appetizer.

I'm glad to be going for dinner in Sept for my birthday dinner.... I love Le Cellier and it's one of my favorites, but I don't know that I'd choose LeCellier for dinner if it were 2TS though. Unless they "jazzed" up the menu maybe. I think we'll do lunch from now on if dinner goes to 2TS. :goodvibes

We've been to LeCellier many times for dinner and I don't think it's worth 2TS credits. It doesn't compare to any of the signature dining restaurants we've eaten at. Unless they completely redesign the interior and change the menu we probably won't dine there again if this is true.

Per allears.net, Le Cellier (Canada/Epcot) to require 2 Dining Credits (Disney Dining Plan) for dinner only - beginning March 1, 2011. Lunch remains at 1 Dining Credit.

Just passing the info along.

I read this last night and was very surprised that this is the 1st post I have seen about it. Its too bad as I do enjoy eating at Le Cellier, but see how this is a no brainer for WDW, especially when the demand is there....oh well.

I have seen quite a few posts with this rumor.

I cant see them waiting until March to change it though. I thought the new year would start.

wonder what the difference between lunch and dinner would be?

My Disney TA emailed me this info yesterday and said it was confirmed by Disney that the change will take effect March 1.

When it included the appetizer and gratuity it was a bargain. I do wish they'd go back to including gratuity and offer the choice between appetizer or dessert.

It only effects the dining plan, so it doesn't change anything for me.

Crap. We don't DDP, but we love having lunch at Le Cellier. This will make lunch ressies much harder to come by. :sad1:

I think the biggest thing you are going to see is that it is going to be very hard to get in at lunch time because a lot of people will not want to use 2TS's for dinner. We do use the dining plan and I have no issue using 2TS for dinner as long as we continue to have good food and good service (unlike Brown Derby which we had a horrible meal and horrible service and won't use 2TS).
