Hi! I'm leaving WDW tomorrow after an awesome 5 days here and I'm already sad! How do you all cope with the ending of a great Disney trip? What do you do to make it a little less sad?

UGH! The worst is getting on the magical express back to the airport. I admit it's brutal. Just start thinking of the next trip and all the stuff you can do next time.

I'm not going to be good at giving you advice because I usually sit and cry the last day. So hard to leave! I do like to end the trip walking around World Showcase and just soaking it all in instead of rushing from thing to thing. Also planning the next trip helps some!

My son cried at Ohana at our departure morning breakfast last trip, which also made me cry. Our server didn't know what to think! We get memory maker, so I like to spend my post trip days going through those, plus any photos that I took. I also write a trip report to capture the memories. And most importantly, I book a bounce back offer before I leave so that I know I'll have something to plan and look forward to once the departure blues lift a bit.

Have you looked into booking a bounce back vacation? I don't remember what the current offer is, but sometimes they are very good!

I too will be leaving in a short 6 days and I also have the same problem that you do-taking the Bad Bus back to the airport to return to reality. Yuck-reality sucks. What we do is once we get back home and settled back into real life, we pull out our memories and start making another scrapbook of the trip. Photos, paper napkins with the restaurant logo, mickey ice scream sticks with just a schmear of chocolate left, the park maps (keep these-you would be suprised how much the parks change over the years. I have maps from way back in the 80's) and other memento's that we picked up during the trip. We put everything together as a remembrance of those seven days in heaven and when ever we start to feel a little down because we miss the park so much, we pull out the scrapbooks and relive those past trips.

We had the worst ride to the airport :( It was rainy and nasty and then security took an hour. We were all so sad and downcast. The only thing I can say is we were just so happy to be back in our home. I spent the next 2 weeks wrapping the gifts we bought and downloading our pictures. Then we started planning the next trip...in 2017 lol

Trip report, look at your photos, jot down as many memories as you can. Watch any videos you took. Wear your t-shirts and enjoy any other souvenirs. And of course, start planning the next trip. I just try to be thankful that I was able to go at all. When I was a kid we could only go once and we were so broke! I try not to be depressed about leaving, instead I focus on how lucky we are to have the means to go once a year so that our DD can experience Disney as she grows up.

I always have two vacations in the works ... I'm leaving Saturday for Disney, but I also have a Bermuda trip in October to look forward to and Ireland next year. Helps ease the post-vacation blues knowing another one is on the horizon!

I don't go for visits of less than 10 days.

That avoids the "vacation is almost over as soon as it starts and I want to stay longer" feeling.

Once home I begin working on a slideshow of our photos. Then a few months later I begin to plan our next visit.

I start planning the next trip... Usually while on the way to the airport.

don't watch that stupid magical express video, especially that tool Gus the motorcoach driver that goes over safety of the magical express bus.

stick in your earbuds and listen to music

Usually, going over the check-out charge statement sobers me right up... makes it a lot easier for me to leave.
