We love the poly also. You can walk along the stone pathway (the stones with people's names and anniversaries on them) to the grand floridian, it is a nice walk.
Also make sure you try the boat ride to the magickingdom from the poly dock even if you are not going in to the magickingdom, we do this on a park day or non park day just to relax and sightsee. Sometimes we would just sit on the bench on the dock and watch everything going on in the bay and take in the beautiful scenery all around the poly. Try the hammocks on the beach.
Watching the castle change colours from the beach at night is nice, as are the beautiful torches that are lit at night. Don't forget that little water show around 9p.m. (check the correct time) from the poly beach.
We also love looking at the lush plants in the great ceremonial house, and on the grounds. My hubby would just love looking at the huge displays of bamboo outside some of the longhouses.
We were there this time a year ago, and just loved watching the baby ducks with their moms walking around. We never found that people hogged the chairs. The grounds are so beautiful, and peaceful it just takes you away. The rooms are quite large, and comfortable, with a huge sliding door that lets in lots of light and gives you a wonderful view.
Did you check tikimans site for a building preference? We also paid about the same as you, it is one of our fav resorts. Have fun,
Deb.
