A grand gathering we shall have, hope the rain stays at bay. Looking forward to some R&R. No parks this time, just exploring the Fort, and enjoying time with friends!

Our trip was a success in that we made it there, but just barely. Our camper started trying to stall after we turned onto Vista Blvd. We arrived just at 1:00pm, and our "Grand Gathering" reservation had been mixed up, so at first they had us in a different loop than the rest of our party. Then they had us a few sites away, and then after some persistance, we were finally placed next to our party site 1616. That evening myDh had to trot out to town to find some parts to fix our little issue. The next day we spent some time at the Meadows swimming hole, and then took a bike ride over to the Wilderness Lodge. It was a pretty ride. That evening we went to Mickeys Backyard Bar-B-Que. It had rained a bit earlier, and stopped right when we got there! Dinner was great, but there was a cast member/dwarf serving the beer, and I think you get guess what kind of dwarf I mean(grumpy). :scared1:
Kids were all pooped, so there were no marshmallows or movies that night. Sunday morning we were up and breaking down camp, decided to cross our fingers and head home, since we were unsure of how the camper would run. We were able to get most of the way home, and then it started trying to stahl again. We were only about 5 miles from home, so we left the camper, and had a friend pick us and the kids up. We were able to get the camper home later in the evening after it cooled off.

Over all, a great trip with friends, but a little stressful too. May plan another trip around X-Mas to camp. That is always a fun time!

Thanks for the TR and pic. I hope your engine issue is fixable quickly and cheaply. Beautiful family.

Glad you made it so close to home before there were camper issues. Sometimes it is just nice to get away. We are leaving on a mini three day camping trip today (if we can get my teenage daughter up and ready to go). Close to home in PA and just planning to relax.

Great family picture !:thumbsup2

you do know that two of yer young'ns are old enough to learn how to fish , right ?

we were just around the corner at 1506.. we had a few little mishaps too.. but nothing to mess with our vacation.. it was amazing.. cant wait to do it again.

DisMomK,

Thanks for posting the picture with the story. Sorry to hear about your mechanical troubles with the RV. Your DH (myself being somebody's DH) had to find parts, limp it home, etc.

What I hope you will do is keep the picture you posted of Chip & Dale with your kids. Put the pictures in an album, keep them fresh, talk to them about the trip.

Because although you, DH, us and anyone who read the thread understand the stress that goes along with mechanical troubles, planning vacations, paying for the fun, etc. the kids will remember the fun times, the good times, and the family times.

I've done that myself. The kids don't remember when I (daddy) had the meltdown in loop 2000 when rains flooded us out of our tent 7 years ago. We talk about the Chip & Dale singalongs, the theme park events, the putt putt family tournaments, going down the Meadow Pool water slide, and boating over to MK.

Keep it on the positive side. The kids will remember the good times and forget any bad times. You, me, and other parents know what it takes to make memories for our kids but properly nurtured they will last a lifetime.

So kudos to you. Hope you can get into the Fort around Christmas!

You rock! Thank you for your insight and reminder, that the magic is ever present for the kids. When we step back and take a look, that is what it is all about. We believe we have diagnosed the mechanical issue, a coil??? I'm a girly girl, so not too sure what that intails/means, but for now it "seems" fixed. No other camping trips planned for now, but need to start working on X-mas.

Also a big thank you to everyone's kinds words and encouragement. We have had so many magical trips to the Fort, that this one will not deter us from future trips!
