Leaving the parks mid day in June or not?

It depends on if we are doing Disney bus or driving ourselves. We leave the room earlier if we are relying on Disney bus. You never know how long you will have to wait on one! We usually leave the room about 45 minutes before RD. Driving from resort, that usually gets us at the entrance about 15-30 minutes before opening. We have never left an hour and a half before. Now, we usually go in late May/early June, so that might make a difference in how much earlier you need to leave.

We will be going last week in May and are taking the bus from POR.

On trips that aren't hot, we tend to arrive at rope drop and stay till early evening. Now we have to go in June. I know we took mid-day breaks at least some days last time. This trip I am not scheduling FP from 12-3 just in case. Also not scheduling anything late evening so if we don't take a break, we can quit early.

I don't recall the transportation ever taking an excessively long time mid-day. Plus, you can generally sit down (not tons of people travelling at this time) and they're air conditioned, so it can be part of your break.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions! It helps me gauge what will work for my family as well!

We have gone quite often that same week. (Will be there 6/1 this trip!) I think if you leave your room 45 mins before park opening, you should be fine. I wouldn't do more than an hour! Have fun!!

This year we're going early August and my plan for MK is to drive from AoA to MK for our 8:05am ADR at CRT, stay until the afternoon parade before going back by bus to the resort for a late afternoon brake. We will return to MK around 7pm to ride a few last rides and to attend the Dessert Party during Wishes. The park closes right after Wishes that day and we'll go back to our room by car so the kids can be easily transported to the resort if they fall asleep after all that sugar!

Ok thanks :thumbsup2

We too love the mid-day break. As others have said, it's a break from the park, the heat, the crowds and a chance to relax, swim and refresh.

But, to put a slightly new spin on it, for us it breaks a long day at a park into 3 short segments: Morning park, afternoon pool and evening park. There is soooo much over-stimulation, for the kids and the adults. We race from one attraction to the next, and without a break, would be lucky to remember what weu did, forget remembering how we felt. The mid-day break lets us all reflect on the morning, savor the memories, plan the evening. We get excited again and reinvigorated for the evening ahead.

A 7 day vacation, with afternoon breaks, ends up feeling like a 21 mini-day vacation.

Ok now I'm wondering if we should take a break midday the last week of May. About what time do you leave for your midday break ?
I did have it planned we would do everything then leave around 4:00 and go to the resort the rest of the day . Is this a bad plan ? I may change it but not sure how getting up way early for RD then going back at night and getting to bed late is going to work out. I dont want us to be worn out getting up early and going to bed late. Any suggestions or opinions ?

We are not usually fans of the mid-day break. But our kids never were big nappers but we could get them to bed at night at a reasonable hour. Plus, we normally go during the off-season, so it made sense to stay until we were ready to leave for the day. We did do one trip in May/start of June and did not take a mid-day break and it worked out well. We are always there for rope drop and leave around 5-8pm, depending on the kids. (However, our next trip is in Sept, so we may need mid-day breaks to cool down during our on-site days. We're not going to do them when we're off-site though). We've tried mid-day breaks a few times in the past and they're generally not successful and just waste time for us. But, my kids won't fall asleep in strollers and one desperately needs a certain amount of sleep or we'll all be miserable.

*Our general plan was go-go-go in the mornings and then take it easy in the afternoon, doing attractions that are more relaxing. Then we play it by ear. We don't feel worn out at all doing things this way. (But commando all day long would likely drain us!) We'll also see how fastpass plus changes things, as our last trip was before that started.

We have gone in June 14 times and we have never not been allowed into a park because it has reached capacity. Yes it is crowded but no where near what it is like during those at capacity times.

Mid-afternoon breaks are a must for us in June.

You could go in morning and stay till late afternoon/eary evening till your burnt out with crowds and heat/humidity then spend evening at resort where kids can play pool games and catch the movie poolside. or hit a lot of rides in morning, leave by 1 pm and come back in evening. We mix it up on our trips.

This is what we do, the first part. We have never left the parks mid day. I have no desire to go back to the hotel and come back. I know me, I'll be all relaxed and won't want to go back. We go hard for as long as we can then relax, go to bed semi-early (9:00), start all over.
