Leaving the park after the first MSELP

We are planning on visiting the park on a Sunday in July and will get the Aladdin's Oasis dining package for the early parade (8:45). I know the viewing area is by IASW.

My question is, if we want to leave the park right after the parade, is it even possible? The fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:30, which I imagine is pretty darn close to time that the parade will be ending on Main Street. So everyone will be standing around on Main Street waiting for the fireworks, right?

So if we watch the parade back by IASW are we stuck until after the fireworks? I will have my 2.5-year-old with me and ideally would like to leave when the parade is over.

You will have better luck if you watch from near the entrance/exit to the park (train station area of Main Street). We've done it from IASM seating, but by the time we got out, the fireworks had started. If you don't mind moving like a fish swimming upstream in a huge crowd, it's not so bad. Otherwise, just stay put.

They do a good job of "trying" to get people to go in one direction on each side. Just walk a little slower and watch out for electric carts. I usually see one or two people get run over/ankle clipped by those things as the drivers get main street rage.

Be ready to go as soon as the American float comes out. Follow it as closely as you can, then, when you reach Jolly Holiday, take a right and go through the back walkway, which should be open.

This is your best bet...literally follow right on the tail of the parade along the route to the gates.

Thank you!! This is so helpful!

So the walkway is behind the Jolly Holiday?

You will follow the parade until it reaches the Hub, guests coming from IASM are then directed onto the sidewalk in front of the castle. You will end up by Jolly Holiday. If you are forced into Frontierland, take a quick left into Advetureland then back toward Jolly Holiday.

The walkway entrance is between Jolly Holiday and Coke Corner.

As others have said, the entrance is to the far right of Coke Corner as you head out of the park. As long as you are following most the guests trying to leave, Cast Members will make it fairly easy to find the entrance to back walkway (assuming it's open, they don't always open it). The CMs form human barriers and say things like "if leaving the park" and then point you in the direction of the walkway.

Thank you all! This is a life saver. I think I will try this strategy as I'm already going to be pushing it keeping the little one up late enough to watch the parade.
