Leaving the Dis for awhile

I'm just tired of waiting 5-10 minutes to open a thread and another 5-10 minutes to post. It takes me over an hour to just read and post to the threads on the Universal forum and often when I do spend time typing out a reply, I often get a time out or a message saying the boards are too busy and I lose everything I just finished typing. I don't have the patience. I'll be over at IOACentral.com. I'd appreciate it if someone would send me an email or PM if or when the DisBoard speeds up a bit. I have cable and don't have problems on other sites, just this one.

We will miss you, sorry you are havin gso much trouble with the DIS. I am not on here much days as I have no internet available to me at work ,but days I am off, the boards get very slow from so many people on them I know...take care and we hope to see you back here soon....

Give it some more time. I have experienced the same issues, though it has been a recent problem for me.

Does anyone know what the problem is? Is the site aware of the issue? (I assume so.) If so, are they doing anything about it? If this is a resource issue, then maybe money is needed from the members. Frankly, I don't even know whether this site accepts $$ from its users.

I find this site to be the best for WDW and UO information and discussion. IOA Central is nice, but not much action on their boards unfortunately.

Anyway, hope you will change your mind.

You'll certainly be missed here but I completely understand your wanting to take a DIS break. I, too, have been frustrated to the point of leaving lately. The boards just are not working properly. I've seen several posts in the last few days saying, "Gee. Aren't the boards moving really fast?" Well, not for me. I come here to relax and enjoy, not get more frustrated.

I hope that they can finally figure out what's been wrong and make the necessary changes. Till then, we'll miss you, Bev.

I understand the frustration, Bev! Some days I can read but not post cause it just hangs! It does make for difficult DISing. I am hoping they get it straightened out quickly so we can all get back to enjoying the boards and you can come back! Your wealth of knowledge will be missed until then.

I think these boards are overloaded by people who say things like "Change one letter" or "Here we go again" and do you see how many posts they have? It must be great fun, but what about the people who need information? There has got to be a way to give the gamers their own arena.

I just really wanted to echo the frustration felt by phantom. It takes so long to post anything! I handle it by having a few other favorite websites open and I read and post at them while the DIS slowly drags itself along.

Thanks everyone. I will try to peek in occasionally but doubt I'll do much posting because my family gets tired of me yelling profanity at the computer while I'm waiting for the page to load. Just email me or send me a PM through the DisBoard if things get fixed here. I've been able to read these posts through email which seems to work fine. The only problem is when I don't check the boards I don't see any new threads.

I appreciate the kind words but there are so many people on this board that know as much or more about Universal as me. Sometimes I feel like I am hogging the board. But really I just love universal so much and want everyone to have the best possible trip they can have.

You are NOT "hogging" the boards. You give such great, insightful information to everyone.
I had trouble with the boards a couple weeks ago, but now I'm not having any difficulty getting on or posting.
PLEASE don't leave us.
