Leaving suitcases in car

We're staying at Royal Pacific for 4 days before heading to OKW at Disney. We have 2 suitcases for Universal and 6 for Disney. Will we be ok if we leave our Disney suitcases in the car while at Universal? Are there cameras in the parking areas? Is valet "safer"? TIA!

Stuff gets stolen out of cars frequently in Orlando (and everywhere else), the parks will not take any responsibility for items regardless of the type of parking.

I know there's always a risk. I just don't know what to do! We're staying in 2 standard rooms and there's not going to be room for all 7 of us and all the suitcases

There are three of us and we generally have two or three full sized cases and a rolling carryon plus backpack each. We make it work. Don't see why you can't do 8 bags over two rooms.

Or maybe Bell Services would let you keep the extra bags with them? Can't hurt to ask. A tip is better than having to waste time and money replacing everything after a break in.

I like the idea of asking bell services to keep the extra bags! If not, I guess we'll keep them in the rooms. Better safe than sorry...

Here is my take. While 'frequently broken into in Orlando' might have some truth, parking at a private hotel parking lot with gates and cameras is different. I like numbers and probabilities. Please define 'frequently'.

If you have good stuff in the car, in plain view, it is very tempting for a would be burglar. Break-ins are a crime of opportunity. Leave the car empty looking. Put your suitcases in the trunk. If no one knows it is there, they will pass by.

What one burglar is going to take 6 suitcases? If you didn't even want to carry them to your room, why would a thief carry them across town?

I say save yourself the hassle of taking up space in your room. Cheers.

We did it for our one and only Universal/WDW split trip. At the time I had a SUV that you could adjust shelf heights in the back so we just put our two WDW bags under the shelf then laid a blanket on top. I've also done it when doing a split stay at WDW, I pack two bags for the different resort and just leave the other bag in the car.

I honestly felt safe leaving my luggage in the trunk of my car at Cabana Bay resort for several hours on my checkout day. But you may find your room has plenty of room for all your luggage if you don't want to risk it. I did keep my computer with me - anything valuable.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! We actually arrived today and we decided to just bring the luggage with us. All the Disney luggage fit neatly in one of the closets. The rooms in Royal Pacific are a lot bigger than I thought!

Glad it worked out for you! When we stayed at Hard Rock with 4 adults and lots of luggage we simply lined the empty suitcases up between one of the beds and a wall. It worked great for us.

I'll never let RPR touch our bags again. My Wife left a brand new pristine retro vinyl Pan Am bag with Bell while we waited for our room. They put a gouge right across the logo on the front. Of course they said "It was like that when we got it". Because everyone knows a busy Bellhop takes the time to look at and memorize every defect in every bag he receives. So we had to launch an investigation with Security. On our tenth and last morning we got the message that were compensating us for the bag, but we had to worry about it all week. Very poor form.
