Leaving Studios for lunch? Where?

Ok, since I have heard NO good things about studios food AND since my family will probably be ready to leave the Studios around lunch time anyway...

Where should we go eat? We will be on dining plan and will probably want counter service since we have a nice dinner planned each night. Should we go over to the Epcot resorts for a bite? or somewhere else? We'll be on our way back to WL for our afternoon break.

You could take the boat over to the Boardwalk area and eat at Beaches and Cream. I hear it's good.

Boardwalk restaurants are within easy boat/walking distance from MGM (15 - 20 minutes either way). Try Big River Grille or ESPN Club, both of which are good lunch places. Nice thing about Boardwalk for lunch is it is usually not terribly crowded, so it is a nice place for a (relatively) quiet meal.

Beaches and Cream, Tangerine Cafe, Sommerfest would be my suggestions.

Any time that we are at the Studios and want something to eat, we take a boat ride over to the Beach Club and eat at Beaches-n-Cream. Yummy...................

Somerfest is a good idea but we have PS for Biergarten that night.

Really? I have eaten at the Brown Derby many times and have always had excellent food and service.

Sounds like you are looking for counter service....?

Tangerine Cafe is located in the Moroccan Pavilion. If it is anything like the table service there, it'll be good.

Beaches and Cream doesn't count for a counter service choice... they count it as a sit down choice.

That was one of the hardest things I found trying to plan our counter meals at MGM and Epcot. Limited choices. Sorry I can't offer any memorable experiences.

The counter service options available at Epcot World Showcase are: Liberty Inn, Sommerfest, Kringla Bakeri, Yorkshire County Fish Shop.

The counter service options available at Epcot Futureworld are: Electric Umbrella, Fountain View.

There are some counter service options available in the Boardwalk and area resorts: Spoodles Pizza Window, Leaping Horse Libations, boardwalk Joe's, Hurricane Hanna's Grill

Just a thought... Is there any way you could have your "sit down" meal that day at lunch... and then have a counter service that night? I know not everyone likes to have a big lunch... but just a thought. You could always leave MGM and have your lunch wherever you were planning to... and then have a light supper later at a counter service location where you happen to be?
