Leaving something in the room story

Uck! How big is a bedframe that you can hide a body in it?!

Once while travelling, we were at least a half an hour away from the hotel. We turned around anda drove back to get my bed pillow I ahd left behind.

A hotel mailed my sister's favorite stuffed rabbit travelling companion home.

I am truly grateful that people I travel with are really good room checkers before checking out!

OMG! :scared1:

Funny that Pete had an unclean Pirate room. I was just reading a trip report by a Mom who stayed in a Pirate room with her two little boys and just like Pete, also had a present from a previous guest in her room:

We headed back to CBR to end our first day. I went into the bathroom, and the first thing I saw on the floor was this:

That is a hairball and 2 dead spiders. So, yuck-but not worth spazzing about. I pulled back the shower curtain to hang up the boys suits, and THIS was in there:

Yes-it is poo. I called housekeeping and asked them to come get it, as I was uncomfortable picking it up with ungloved hands. A gentleman shows up, picks it up with his bare hands, and says "okay, all gone". I got a whiff as he went past, and yes it IS poo. He was going to leave, when I told him that the tub needed to be cleaned, as we wouldn't use it when that was in there. I also asked him to clean the floor (and showed him the hair and bugs). He did all of this willingly. When we got into our room earlier, the housekeeper was still in there, and she seemed flustered to see us come in the door. She didn't speak english, so she went and got someone else who told us our room was done and we could make ourselves at home. I like to think that she just wasn't done cleaning our room-thus the yuckies.

Here's her trip report:

They had a great vacation but what a yucky discovery!!!

:lmao:oh crap!

that is just disgusting. i've found a sock or something under the bed or a bobby pin in the bathroom and sometimes, hair like that. always gross. but poo?

If I die in a hotel room, I hope it's a Ritz Carlton or a Four Seasons ... or even the Grand Floridian. I'd hate to be caught dead at a Value Resort! :rotfl2:

I have to say that I use to work in housekeeping at a hotel when I was 16 years old. I know all the tricks in the book to make a room look clean even when you cut corners.

There are different standards between a occupied room and an unoocupied room. When I worked I would get 15 rooms a day and you would have a max of 1/2 per room. So occuopied rooms you would make the beds, quickly wash the bathroom(getting most of the floor but not all of it) and vacuum the floor.

An occupied room you would clean in more detail, using bleach on the floor, dusting tables and changing the bed sheets, but never the comforter. I have to say I never cleaned the baseboards or bed frames as this was done during spring and fall cleanings, which was also when we cleaned the windows and the curtains. Comforters were only washed once a year.

I have to day that I never use the comforters, unless I know they are changed with each guest.

The full time housekeepers usually are given the same rooms all the time so those who have a sense of ownership, work hard to keep there rooms in good condition, others who are just there to do a job don't. It is really hard to be hired as a housekeeper as not many people want that type of job and burn out is very high.

Most issues from my experience is time. The next is those just trying to get done so they can go home.

These are in no way an excuse for anyone to get a dirty room, but it may help people understand why it happens.

Because I listen to Bob and Tom, I always look between the mattress and box spring. Seasoned travelers know what you can find there :)

The first thing that came to mind is the Quentin Tarrentino movie Four Rooms.

And now I'm totally skeeved out!

OMG...how could the management not know?

HOLY COW! And other guests used that room since the "disappearance"!

sjsjsbrook - thanks for the info. It is helpful to know how these things work and now I want to bring my own blankie from home

Now I know how to lose weight. I just have to look at and read some of these posts like goofygal531 post regarding leaving these in the hotel room and I will lose my appetite fast!:scared1:

I haven't listened to the podcast. I'll be going to WDW on Tuesday and will listen on the way. :)

But I have a loooonng list of things I've found in Disney rooms...from jewelry to swim goggles and half-eaten food...so many, many things. What took the cake was the day-timer Disney swore to the owner was NOT in the room.

A shirt won't surprise me...but I can't wait to hear it. :)

OMG! I will be checking every bed from now on and still probably have nightmares that there is a body under me!

the worst thing left in my room?

a used condom in the bathtub...

actually, it was rolled up in the bathmat and fell out when i put the bathmat into the tub....

i picked it up with a washcloth and threw it and the washcloth out in the garbage...

i didn't call housekeeping as i didn't want to get the housekeeper in trouble..

i should add, this was in a very expensive hotel (over $1000/night)..

you'd kinda like to not find things like that (or anything for that matter)in the tub at those rates..

oh well....

if that's the worst thing that ever happens to me in my life, i'll be pretty darn lucky :goodvibes

:scared1:

I always check for bed bugs (since reading the Dis enlightened me), now I will have to check for bodies too! Just in case! *shudder*

When I worked in a hotel I found very interesting things in the sheets. Two person underpants, used condoms, adult toys and much much more. Keep in mind I was only 16 at the time and a very naive 16 at that.

The condom in the bath mat, could have been washed and folded with the laundry and truely the housekeeper wouldn't have known. They just pick up the already folded laundry and put it in the rooms.
