Just wanted to post that I am leaving Sat. 8/8 for WDW with my family, including DS 14, who is severely autistic. This will be his 5th trip and first time staying at Pop Century. We've prepared a travel social story for him and based on his verbalizations, this should be our best trip!! We are going by plane and have our days planned out. I'll post our experience. We are booked for the Fantasmic! dinner package and I know that has been a not so great experience lately so I will update. We are very excited!!!!

Woo-Hoo!! Have a wonderful trip. I'll be looking to hear all about it when you get home! Enjoy!

We are booked for the Fantasmic! dinner package and I know that has been a not so great experience lately so I will update. We are very excited!!!!

We have a high functioning asperger'e kid and he has trouble coping with the masses of Fantasmic. We always get a seat on the top row end and if asked to move explain the situation. My son is 11 and still cannot cope with "inside" seating so we do this at all of the shows.

When doing Fantasmic we always eat an early dinner so he's hungry when we get to the theater. He gets popcorn and a pretzel (two of his favorite foods), so he chills and eats until showtime.

When he was 6, I do remember carrying him out of Fantasmic kicking and screaming, while the masses stared.

Have a good trip

My son is severly autistic too. He's 11 and has been to Disney 6 times. Never tried Fantasmic. Let us know how it goes.
Have a great trip.

Thank you for all the warm wishes!! :) I wish that I could say that I was packed and ready to go, but alas, much packing remains (all of it!!). We have done Fantasmic! before and sat in the back in the handicapped seats, but we've used the alternate entrance provided by the dinner package. That's the part that I'm most worried about! The crowds getting in....but my son has quite enjoyed the show in the past. I was very excited tonight to hear him say the words "pop century" so I think it's starting to sink in!!
