Leaving on Saturday, how important is it to?

Make reservations for all your table service meals, all the CMs that I spoke to while making reservations for Hoop Dee Doo Review and the Ohana Breakfast said that as long as we make it the day before or the morning of we should be ok, we arrive this Saturday for 7 nights.

This is our first trip so I am clueless as where to eat, heeeeelp.

We will not get there until about 5pm on Saturday and I was thinking we should just go over to DTD for that first night and grab something to eat there, possibly use our voucher for Planet Hollywood, should I make a reservation now?

Well, you are going at a slower time than most, so that will help. You SHOULD be able to walk up and wait for a table. You might wait more than 30 minutes depending on where you go, but don't be shocked if you walk up to a restaurant, especially a character meal, and they tell you they are booked solid. More and more of the restaurants are booking solid with the dining plan. Go to the DIS home page and click on the menu section. Look at the menus for the different places at each park. That will be a start. There are SO many restaurants at WDW!

As far as Planet Hollywood, I don't know about reservations there, but DTD has some good counter service as well, like Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express.

It's getting harder and harder to be able to wait until the day of to go somewhere to eat. We went during the slow time in December and most of the places we ate at weren't even allowing walk ups. On the Tuesday we were there we hadn't planned anything for dinner, so we called the morning of and couldn't get anything! We tried several different places looking for anytime available. We eventually had to eat at WCC at WL (which was a waste of a dinner but we took what we could get, besides CS.)

I'm also leaving on Saturday & made the majority of PS about 2 weeks ago.....

I did decide to change a few & when I went to book the new restaurants, I found that some were either booked up or there were only very early/late times available.

I just got back on 1/24. I made all of my ADR's either the night before or the morning of. I was able to get most of the reservations we wanted; however we needed to adjust the times a little, ie: I wanted Liberty Tree Tavern before SpectroMagic (which would have been around 5:30). They only had a 4:20 or 7:25. Because we were having lunch late we decided on the 7:25 which was perfect. Chef Mickey's and O'Hana's were a little more diffcult to get. The CM at the Congiere desk at The Pop even told me that just the week before she was able to book a table for 10 at Cinderella's Royal Table. She admitted that she just about fell over when it was available.

I would try to decide on some park ADR's just to be sure you get them and you can always cancel them.

The ADR reservations have gotten a little overbooked lately...IMHO.

We were in WDW at the tail end of F&W. We tried to book some ADR's the day of our visit to each park and had no luck. (We don't like to plan far in advance because we don't really know what park we'll be in from day to day) So we went right up to the check-in desk of the restaurants that were supposed to be "sold out" of seating, and after a short wait, got right in.

It seems many people are making these ADR's and then not showing up.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Since this is our first trip, we really are not sure what parks on what days we are going to visit, I didn't want to tie us down in making reservations at a certain place and then have to rush over to that park from another park just to have dinner.

I do have two character meals already booked and I am going to try and get a Chef Mickey dinner in.

DH and will sit down tonight and maybe we can schedule a few, he works such a weird schedule so it is hard to get time to sit down and go over plans, but as of this morning he is off from work until we leave for Disney.

My kids are bouncing off the wall now.
