We are leaving Friday morning and my DD (age 9) is sick. She has a fever and we heard that her friend has strep. What luck!!

Get her to the Doctor as quickly as you can (if you haven't already, LOL). The good news is that if it is strep, antibiotics will have here feeling better very quickly - my daughter was always better within 24 hours and able to go back to daycare/school (with Dr's permission).

Hope she feels better soon and none of the rest of you get sick.

Best wishes -

Have them do the throat culture - and get her on the antibiotics NOW! They won't have the culture results back until after you are on the trip - but you can call and get the results from there. Get her on the drugs now anyway - just in case, and then you can take her off of them if the results are negative. Normally I would never tell anyone to do this with antibiotics, but with strep exposure and a WDW trip coming up - it may be your best bet!

I agree dont take the chance go to Ped. Our ped. has a prelim test they can do to determine if it is strep or not. But if she is running a fever she might end up with a sinus or ear infection. They can cut it off if that is the case. My youngest DD is sick this week also and we leave on Wed next week which means the oldest will probably have it by then!

We leave Saturday and DS has been battling something for nearly two weeks - first the croup, then a cold (which he generously passed on to me), then a rash that we thought was breakthrough chicken pox, a fever on Monday and a call from the school nurse today that he was complaining of an ear ache!!! Called the ped. and am taking him in in the a.m. Of course, I have no doubt that now DD will come down with at least something.
