Hey folks, just booked a last minute trip to WDW leaving Tuesday of next week.

If I order the park tickets today via the app, do you think the Magic bands will arrive in time to my home in Texas?

It's been 3 years since our last visit, so the bands are new to me. Thanks!

Magic bands are tied to your WDW resort stay not your tickets. If you are staying on property you can get your bands at check in.

Agreed with the above:
- If you're staying on property, you should get them when you check in at the resort. Be sure your ticket purchase is linked to your MDE (I assume your resort already is).
- If you're not staying on property and you just purchased tickets, you don't automatically get Magic Bands. There are several gift shops in park and out where you can purchase them (about $12 each) and link them to your tickets.

Thanks to all for the helpful replies.

Not staying on property.

So if I choose not to buy the bands, I'll use a paper ticket like our trip prior?

Not a paper ticket, a plastic RFID-enabled card. Works fine for park entrance and FP+. Have a great trip!

Right. The plastic ticket you will get is pretty much equivalent to a Magic Band. As I said earlier, if you decide you want MagicBand(s), you can go to a gift shop anytime during your visit and purchase. The main advantage of the MagicBand is you won't have to dig in your wallet, pockets, etc. when you show up for entrance gates and FastPass entrances. The only other MB advantage I can think of is some rides (like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train) have some way of detecting your MB as you ride so that they can associate ride photos with you. If you're not into that, you'll be fine with the tickets.

Ok plans changed!

Coronado Beach it is!

So if I book today, the bands will be ready upon check-in? In the mean time, how can I arrage my fast passes? Will there be a ticket # on the receipt that I can use I presume?

If you purchase the tickets directly from the WDW website it will ask you to assign each ticket to a person on your MDE account. Once tickets are purchased and assigned then you can book FP times.

The bands will be available at checkin, but I don't think there's time for any customization...but link your tickets to MDE and maybe you'll get lucky. Worst case, I would think they could give you grey ones at checkin.

If you have tickets, you should be able to enter a number from your voucher or receipt that will allow you to link with MDE and set up fastpasses. Good luck with your FP's this close...although last year I did a last minute trip in June and got almost everything I wanted (no A&E or 7DMT).

So, let me get this straight - I am buying discounted tickets thru my husband's company (General Motors). Does this mean we'll get the credit card looking tickets and not the magic bands? And they are seriously $12 each? Not really worth it for a 5 day stay. Guess I need to run to the office supply store to get badge holders and lanyards.

MagicBands come with the onsite hotel stay. You don't have to have tickets AT ALL to get MBs as long as you're staying onsite. If you're staying offsite, you still don't have to have tickets to get MBs, but you have to BUY the MBs. Once you have the tickets on MDE you can make FP+s at 60 days from the start of your onsite stay.

So if you're onsite, that's connected to your MDE account. Buy the tickets and you should be able to connect them to your MDE account. Then the MB will be connected to the tickets. If you're offsite, you still connect the tickets to MDE and you can make FP+s at 30 days out.

The Magic Bands have nothing to do with how or where you purchase your park tickets.

If you are staying at a WDW resort (your signature indicates you are staying at CSR), you will receive complimentary MBs. The $12 or so expense is for a guest who is staying offsite and want a MB (they don't NEED one).

When you purchase your tickets (wherever you purchase them), link them to your MDE account. Then you can make FP+ reservations beginning 60 days before your trip. During your trip, your MB accesses the information in that MDE account, allowing it to serve as your room key, park pass, and FP+ pass.

I changed my CSR to renting points from a DVCer for a one bedroom AKL kidani villa. When I had CSR I saw the bands and customized them. Do I have to have the DVC person do this for me now?
Edited to say I Figured It Out!! Yay! I'm so excited! And proud of myself for figuring it out!

Just one more question, when my tickets come, if I link them to the magic band does that mean I don't have to bring them with me?

You're not really linking the tickets to the MagicBand. You link them to your MDE account. It isn't clear to me that you will have physical tickets before you arrive. When you get them thru Disney, they are often just a confirmation number that you would link to your MDE account, which then gets linked to any MagicBands associated with that account. If you do get actual tickets, make sure you link them to your MDE account...and yes, I would bring them.

We decided on a Monday to add three days to the front of our upcoming stay. I made the reservation at 4pm. Our reservation showed up immediately on MDE. That night we customized our Magic Bands. The next morning, I got an email saying they had shipped. I received them in Thursday's mail, so three days later. I thought that was great!

No, you control the bands, customizing etc, in my disney experience, since you should have linked your resort reservation.
