Leaving MK right before and/or during fireworks?

Is this even possible? If so, any advice on the best way to exit without getting caught in crowds is much appreciated!

The CMs have pathways open to guide traffic in these situations around the hub and down Main Street. It's crowded, but there are pathways kept open for moving traffic.

Just be careful not to be in Fantasyland behind the Castle shortly before the fireworks are to begin.

CMs patrol an area where debris typically falls and will not allow guests to go through the area or at times exit the Castle itself. In short, you may be stuck there for 30-40 minutes before getting the all-clear.

When the crows is big, they sometimes open the side alleys to exit, like there's one next to Crystal Palace, on the right looking from the castle. This keeps you from having to go to Main Street at all. So, I'd try to be coming from Frontierland. Otherwise, they'll have a very clear path to exit through the crowd until a few minutes before it starts. Timing is important.

We left right before/during fireworks in MK on our trip in January and the CMs had the bypass (behind the Plaza I think it is) open and so it was a pretty easy exit out.

Yeah, that’s the game plan, but we’ll have been in up since 4.30am (flying in that morning) so I need a (literal) exit strategy if my kids hit a wall at that point!

I’ve left during fireworks several times. If my family is tired, I go back to the park by myself to ride whatever. I typically take advantage of the lower wait times and then try to be at the front of the park by the finale if I need to beat the rush for transportation.

There are walkways open on both sides, sometimes “backstage” areas will be open for pedestrians. You have to keep moving though, no stopping to watch in the walkway. I’ve only entered the walkways from a farther point, not sure how easy it would be to hop in from the Main Street crowd. If needed, ask a CM how to leave.
