Leaving MGM after Fantasmic?

We haven't made it to Fantasmic before, but we're going to try in September. We're staying at ASMo and will mostly use the bus, but we will have our car. Is it better to have your car parked at MGM for when the show is over or use the bus back to the resort? We've never had too much trouble with the buses, but I wondered if it'd be too packed after the show and we'd be better off driving over there that day.

We have done both ways and it probably takes just as long either way. I prefer driving my own car because you are guaranteed a seat, no crowding or crying kids (unless it's your own) and you can store some drinks or snacks in your car for on the drive back to your hotel.

We have not been before, but are planning to this year. I will definitely take my car. My thoughts are if we are waiting for a bus we are standing - once on the bus, we may be standing. With our car, we may sit in a trafic jam for a while, but our kids will be sitting - the baby in her carseat with her sippy cup - the boys comfortable. We can then wait out the trafic jam.

I agreee about the car, both could be a long wait (tram to car vs. bus) but as others said, you will get a seat and if the kids fall asleep, you can drive to the curb of your building to carry them in instead of hiking from the bus stop,

i think -still not sure yet, but i also agree with the car, we will be onsite for 3 days only, -i never stay onsite anymore, and the idea of bringing a cooler to keep beverages snacks and sands. in the car to eat is a good idea to me. If i am not mistaken the Mk is the only place where there is no direct parking you go to the TTC and they bus you. Plus if you took your car then there is no wait on a bus you just go. good luck in your decision.

as it is usually just as fast (if not faster) than finding your car, getting caught in traffic, parking at your resort, etc. We have always found the bus system to be great and gives you more of a vacation feel to not have to drive yourself. To each, their own but we love the buses!

In case you did not know Fantasmic will go on at 8pm every night in Sept.
We will be seeing it are first night in DISNEY SEPT.23rd.
Can you tell I can't waite!

Thanks for your input everyone! I guess there are pros and cons either way. We'll just have to see how we feel when we're there. The buses have always been pretty good for us and we don't usually drive at all when we're there, but sometimes it would be nice to have your own car to collapse into after a long day!

This has been our experience 2x now. We do the Fantasmic Package, not even so much for the short wait time but for the seating closest to the exit. The minute that the show is over we scoot right out of there as fast as we can (safely) right to the buses. Both times we have been almost first on the bus and the last time (10 days ago), we actually walked right onto the bus, waited for a few people and then left before the bus was even half full. It was awesome.

We lost our car after Fantasmic...such a sad scene...walking from lot to lot...late at night...in the rain.

If you ever do this (you think you won't but it can happen!), just ask a CM in the parking lot. If you tell them what time you came in, they can tell you where you parked!!!!! More Disney magic!
