Leaving items in car at port parking lot?

We have an Audiovox DVD player that we take on trips in the car. It is in a little bag with a flip up LCD screen. I'm wondering what others do with these while on the cruise. I really don't want to have to carry it on board - we have enough already!
Has anyone left it in their car (packed up and hidden, of course), or does it get too hot and ruin it??
I'm wondering the same thing about the kids gameboys.
Do you all carry all this "trip stuff" on the ship with you or leave it in the car??

Not sure to the answer to your question. But regarding leaving things in the car. DO NOT leave any food products unopened in your car or you may be infested with ants upon your return.

The parking lot seems pretty secure. I would not worry too much about the 'theft' issue but heat damage is an entire different matter.

As for heat, I would check the manual that came with the product to see what is says.

I have the built in DVD player in my van, and it gets extremely cold in winter, and hot in summer and it does fine. Of course it is built in, so they know when they design it that it must withstand these temperature changes.

It can get well over a 100 degrees in a car. The heat may damage your things. Be careful.

we also have a portable TV/VCR combo and left it on the car
in the heat of August for 7 days and it was fine. We DID take
the videotapes and the GameBoys on board. If our TV can
withstand that kind of heat, I'd say try it. It worked fine after
the cruise, too. We did cover the TV with a blanket for
security reasons - no problems there - even left a small
suitcase on the car.

There was an unscientific test about things left in the car on a hot summers day run by a Las Vegas newspaper. Perhaps it's not quite as hot in Florida in the summer, but pretty close.

Pretty cool article to see what various objects do inside a car (pop cans, video tapes, etc).

Here's the article

That was an interesting article! I guess I should have mentioned that we're cruising in February, not summer, so I guess that might make a little bit of difference, too.
Anyone else have any experiences to add??

We left a car at the port on our Sept cruise. The cruise was a 3-day in the middle of our 13-day vacation and we left more stuff than we took with us.
It was all clothes, etc. we took our laptop on board with us. We had no problems.
Have a great cruise Mog!

We did the 4 day Wonder 2 summers ago, and are going again this July 5 on the Magic Western.
We brought down a 7 inch tv/vcr and tapes. We decided not to leave them in the car. The porter carried the tv out, and it was in our room when we arrived.
we will do the same thing this time, plus if anyone gets sick, we will have our favorite movies to pass the time.

And you must remember to check the car for any food, even those old fries under the seat!
