:p We are staying at POR for first time and have requested AG Bldg 14. Anyone just back have any new input about the resort/ Good or bad????

Thanks

We've never stayed in the Alligator Bayou buildings, but POR is our favorite resort. Building 14 looks to be the closest to the food court and pool areas.

Make sure you take the boat ride to Downtown Disney, and save some time for walking the paths around the river - it's beautiful!

Have a great time!

I'm not just back, but we'll be there in 18 days. In February we were in Building 15 and in November we were in Building 14. I requested Building 14 both times. Both 14 and 15 were great -- very convenient to the food court and the first POR bus stop.

I'm also eager to hear from anyone just back!

BTW, have a great anniversary trip!

Hi,
Returned on 03/09 after two weeks staying in Oak Manor. In 2000 had a room in Parterre Place. After two years there didn't appear to be any difference or changes (apart from the new name of the resort).Maid was excellent leaving towell animals and messages every day.Bob Jackson is still as popular and as loud as before and the food court is the same.Gardens still well kept.
I got the impression that some blocks were completely empty.Definitely stay there again.

Have a wonderful time and give us a trip report when you get back!! (I'll be at POR one month from tomorrow!).
:D

Used to stay in OAK Manor...for weeks at a time. We absolutely LOVE this resort, all the great restaurants and the manicured lawns, pools, laundry, arcade/shopping, food court, CM's, themed grounds w/stone bridges, walkways, Sassagoula express to DTD, bikes & boats, old man's fishing experience for kids (catch & release!), housekeeping, security, bus stops (East Depot) w/drinking fountains & ceiling fans & great benches w/shelter, etc.! It's a DELUXE...in a MODERATE'S Clothing! LOL. Enjoy!!!

We just stayed there in June in Bldg 37. We did request connecting non-smoking rooms and also asked for Bldg 14, 15 or 17, but I guess 2 out of 3 is fine with us. We had no problems with the buses....the most we waited was about 10 minutes, maybe 15 min. one time. But most of the time we only had a 5 minute wait. We were at the 4th stop with one more after ours, but usually didn't have a problem with finding a seat when going to the parks.

The maid did the towel animals for the kids. Of course we did tip her everyday. She did a great job in cleaning our rooms also (we had 2). We asked for extra towels the day we checked in, and our maid always left us extra every day after that even without requesting more. I wish I could say the same about Royal Pacific Resort (we stayed there after POR). We requested extra towels the first day and tipped for them. The maid cleaning the room after that would not give us any more towels because she saw that we had 4 already. She would only take away the dirty ones. She didn't realize that we needed at least 5 per day (we had 5 in our party). She didn't always leave hand towels that were needed either.

We have reservations for POR again in December, but not sure if we will be able to go now. We have 2 daughters and now one son getting married, and we are going broke fast.

Good luck with your planning and hope you get your requests.

:p Thanks for all your input..sounds like we made a great choice.

3Reds...i'll do that trip report for you when we get back plus feel free to email me next week with any questions.:p :p :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We just spent 9 perfect days at POR (8-16 to 8-25) ...we originally wanted AB #14 but they said it was being refurbished..good thing for these boards, because no one at POR or CRO mentioned to me that #14 & #15 were being refurbished...i found out three days before we left and was able to get Oak Manor, corner room, water view, (#9239) at no extra charge. You may have to call the front desk at POR to find out this information.

I do not know if AB #14 & #15 are finished but I would double check before you go. Or you may be "surprised" when you check in .

The main pool is undergoing renovation (not sure when) BUT, they have a fence up by the bridge. If you want to use the water slide you have to get out of the pool walk around and get back in by the slide. The fence does make it look kind of "ugly" but to us it was no big deal.

If possible, eat at Boatrights...moderately priced resturant with EXCELLENT food.

If you like to have a few drinks at night, (or even if you are NOT a drinker) you must find time to go to the Lounge at night and see Bob Jackson, the piano player. He is out-of-this world. If you have kids, they will be involved in the show at some point during the night. He plays Weds. thru Sat. from 8:30 to 12 Mid. Don't be surprised if you are picked to be involved too. He loves to get the adults to dance around while everyone watches them. Trust me , it happend to me. It is a blast and a great way to end the day.

I do not have one bad thing to say about this resort. We are going back for the Thanksgiving weekend and staying at POR and have already requested AB #14.

Have fun.

Did you by any chance have a king bed room? If you did, any comments? DH and I resrved a king bed room and would like to get a room in one of the mansions facing the river.

Hi Dallas Lady

We were in a double bed room...Oak Manor..We were right off the sidewalk with a perfect view of the river and the Marina. We entered our room from the staircase to the LEFT of the water fountain that is in the courtyard...I would suggest seeing if you can get a room by the staircase to the RIGHT of the water fountain..OR in Partierre Place. ..I know its not a big deal..BUT when you are there for 9 days those walks over the bridge from your room seem like they take forever once you are there for a while. But if you remember, our room # was 9239...we had a perfect view of EVERYTHING. Take a walk by it and you will see.

Have a great trip....We can't wait for Thanksgiving weekend.

Please... Take me with you;) We've stayed in building 14 as well as building 18. Both were very convenient to the bus stop and food court area. You will love POR! Have a great time!!!

Remember that since POR and POFQ are sister resorts that you can go down there and use the pool. It is a different theme than the one at POR and might be a nice change. It is a short walk along the river to get the the FQ.

And, I agree, don't forget to take the boat to DTD. It is a relaxing trip and the shopping is really nice, too. Enjoy yourself!

There's also a boat that goes between POR and POFQ. When we were there in July it was full of swimmers using the POFQ pool.

We've stayed in 14, 15, 16 and 26. We loved them all, but really liked our last stay in 26. It was a very peaceful setting with a footbridge, pond, ducks, etc.

Enjoy - POR is the best!!:p
