Oh no! We are leaving 12/4 at the crack of dawn. My DD (age 6) has 102' fever. Another Dd (age 8) has a realllllly infected toenail (won't go into gory details). So far the 3-yr-old looks okay. And I won't even get into my concerns about my autistic DS, age 5. I thinks it's kinda funny that they are screening so carefully at the airport. The airborne terrorist they will not catch is my autistic son! PLEASE WILL SOMEONE CALM ME DOWN!!!!!! P.S. Haven't finished packing.

Sending healing pixie dust for the 2 sick kids (I'm sending the fast-acting variety) and calming pixie dust for you and the rest of the family (don't use too much, it's really potent). I wish I could send you some packing pixies, but they need to be ordered at least 4 days ahead of time this close to the holidays.
:)

So sorry to hear about your kids :( My kids are sick every single time we travel!! I can virtually bank on it. Around here there has been a virus going on for a bit...high fever for a few days and that's it. Bring lots of Tylenol with you...and if you're anything like me...I have a travelling pharmacy (cold medication (day & night), fever reducer, tums, anti-diarehhal (sp?), and most important for me - ATIVAN!!!

DW (who is a nurse) uses Motrin when our son has a fever. It works pretty good. It is probably just one of the 24 hour things. Try Neosporin for the toe. Most of all try and have a good time.

I am sure you are having a good time in Dis. For you other parents. The academy of pediatrics has said that if the child is well hydrated, and not too uncomfortable, try NOT to treat the fever with tylenol or motrin. Remember, the fever is natures way of killing the virus. Obviously, if the child is miserable in the park with a fever, he/she will not have a good time. So the fever reducing med is a good idea for that time. BUT...........when staying at home, sitting in the hotel, veging out, skip the tylenol and motrin. Just make sure the child is well hydrated.

2 cents from a 20+ year exp pharmacist
