We are taking our 5 year old boys (twins) to Disney World in 16 days, but they do not even have a clue that we are taking them. We are traveling to the departure city and staying overnight in a hotel and then fly out early the next morning. Both boys know about Disney as the keep asking when we will "take them to the place where all their dreams will come true." But they also know that we would have to fly to get there. They have not been on an airplane either. So I was thinking of telling them at the airport that we are going on vacation and not tell them where yet. Then about an hour or so away from Orlando, giving them (or have someone else) give them a small gift bag that will have mickey ears and a mickey t-shirt in it. I think they will at that time figure it out where we are going, but what do you think? Too much for 5 year olds? Or any other ideas? This is a HUGE thing for us to take them and we want to make it something that they will always remember.
