We are taking our 5 year old boys (twins) to Disney World in 16 days, but they do not even have a clue that we are taking them. We are traveling to the departure city and staying overnight in a hotel and then fly out early the next morning. Both boys know about Disney as the keep asking when we will "take them to the place where all their dreams will come true." But they also know that we would have to fly to get there. They have not been on an airplane either. So I was thinking of telling them at the airport that we are going on vacation and not tell them where yet. Then about an hour or so away from Orlando, giving them (or have someone else) give them a small gift bag that will have mickey ears and a mickey t-shirt in it. I think they will at that time figure it out where we are going, but what do you think? Too much for 5 year olds? Or any other ideas? This is a HUGE thing for us to take them and we want to make it something that they will always remember.:dance3:

The second time we went to WDW. We went with some buds and we had their kid and my daughter. We drove and we told the kids that we were camping in the Everglades. We told them we were lost and when we got to the resort we told them we were going to WDW.LOL/LOL/ My daughter is 19 now and she has never forgiven me. On a second note my daughter has a Frontier land that is her bench cause I was so mad at her she thought the world was comming to an end. Take a bunch of brakes WDW can be to much for younger children. Have a good time and enjoy you trip.:)

My sister and I were suprised for the first time by our parents when we were about 4 & 6. We still talk about it to this day. I think that even at 5 they will enjoy that. It's just another way to keep the magic going from the minute you leave until the minute you get back. Enjoy!

Hehe, I'm doing the same with my 6 year old daughter... driving to Niagara Falls, spend the night (even though we'll pack for 5 :>), hop the border and to the airport. At 5 and 6, they'll be amazed... but in mid-flight, prepare yourself for the billion and one 'are we there yet's :)
