I haven't flown since 1989 so can't remember the details.

How long do I need to allow for check-in for an Airtran flight out of MKE? Our flight leaves at 8:15 AM. I'm planning on doing an online check-in the day before. Would 1.5 hours before the flight is scheduled to leave be enough?

Most airlines post 9/11 suggest 2 hours. Whether it actually takes that long depends on how busy the airport is and whether or not you are chosen for additional security checks.

Be sure to check with your airline/airport concerning what you can and can't bring on the place with you. Off the top of my head, I know you can't bring finger nail clippers, box cutters or any liquid more than 3 oz.

Are you checking luggage? If so an hour and a half is fine. If only taking carry on then 1 hour is plenty..............unless, of course you are traveling around a major holiday ---then you may need a bit more time. Wjen we fly out of MKE it usually takes DH, DS14 and I only a half hour to go through the process when we do carryons and online check in--but I like to play it safe to give us time just in case. Have a great trip!

Thank you. I thought 1.5 hours might be enough since it's a smaller airport, (we'll most likely have some luggage to check) but thought I'd check. We'll be staying at a sleep and fly the night before so I'm sure they will be able to confirm that as well.

I will second MarthaJr.'s comments. Going through security at Milwaukee is usually very fast compared to busier airports and the gates aren't as far a walk as at bigger airports.

We are flying out of MKE for the first time in March (we usually fly Midway). Is MKE similiar in size to MDW?? We plan on driving up early on our departure day and use long term parking at the airport. Are the parking lots easy to find coming in on I-94???

go to mitchellairport.com. click on TSA/security on left side. on the right side middle way down in evolution box there is security wait time calculator. I hope this information helps

This is the first time flying for DH and the kids (my last experience was 14 yrs ago) so we're planning on arriving at MKE around 2hrs before flight time. We live close so we're picking up my parents to take us to the airport and they'll just be dropping us at the departure doors. I know we're probably getting there too early, but I don't know what to expect and it'll be easier to kill time at the airport than to be a nervous wreck wondering if we'll make it.

My parents fly to Florida every year and know they get there around 1 1/2 hours early and have plenty of time to spare.

Yes, the lanes to use for long term parking are clearly marked. Even if you miss it, it's not that diffiuclt to drive through the airport area and reenter. It's a pretty compacted airport.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm just a "smidge" on edge about going thru a different airport with the 3 kids. We are pros with SWA at MDW, but driving up to MKE is saving us about $1800!!!
Have a great trip.

We live 25 min. from MKE airport and for our Easter trip we are flying out of ORD and saving about $700! Go figure! :confused3
