Leaving Friday for Rocky Mountain NP!!!

Our reservations are confirmed. DH is spending the weekend getting everything in order and figure out how to pack it all into our pathfinder and hitch rack.

I am so ready to get out of the city for a week!

How busy can I expect it to be at RMNP? I have heard that traffic can be bad.

Any tips on what to see, where to go, hikes to take, what is not to be missed?

Good for you!! Haven't been there for several years, but one thing I remember vividly - Trail Ridge - the very scenic views - just totally awesome! There was snow in July - very high altitude.

Can't comment on traffic - would imagine like most vacation destinations in the summer now - could get plenty congested. Have a great trip!!

Haven't been to RMNP, but on my bucket list.

It's an exquisite park. Drive all the way thru so you get all the best views. You will get a map with a lot of trails. Watch for elk! There's a trail called Beaver something which was easy and pretty. Weekends can be mobbed and traffic is very slow. On one end of park is Estes Park. Cute town with lots of restaurants. On other end is Grand Lake. Try to get to the grand lake lodge if for no other reason than the view from the terrace. Not sure how you are getting there but Boulder is a great town to visit for a beer. And the hike up their mountain right in town...can't remember name...is amazing. I did it last year. It's tough but if a 65 year old woman can do it I'm sure you can!
