We were supposed to be going to BWV for Thanksgiving week, but things kind of took a change (for the better) and we are now going Labor Day week (leaving Saturday). We'll check into OKW (studio) this coming Sunday, I've requested to be near the Hospitality House and main pool (which I know is only a request :) ). We've never stayed at OKW before so I'm looking forward to this stay. We'll be staying for five days and we have 2 days left on our parkhoppers from our last trip, so I'm trying to convince myself to not upgrade to a lengthier pass and just to have a nice relaxing vacation. Anyone have any ideas for people that normally hit the parks every day they are there? Or any not to be missed OKW activities?

Also, don't get me wrong, I'm happy to be going but I'm just getting over bronchitis and my husband has had to work some rediculous hours these past few days (he worked from 7 am to 3pm and then 4:30 pm to 5:30 am the next morning) all in the same day and is working a long shift again tonight, so I know he's wiped out) but he at least has Friday off to rest before our drive to Florida. So basically, I'm happy to be going, but this all developed in a day that we are now able to go next week, so I think I'm also in a little bit of a shock along with getting over being sick so I don't feel that I'm as excited as I should be, plus the fact that we only have the two days on our passes left. I'm sure as soon as we hit the road I'll start getting more excited and I know as soon as I see the signs for my beloved mecca, I'll really be excited, sorry if I sound like I'm whining, I really am looking forward to our trip :)

Well, since you're getting over being sick and your DH has been working crazy hours, why not use the other 3 days to relax. Sleep late, sit by the pool, stroll around OKW(you can walk to DD from there...somewhere on here are the directions), stroll around DD, stroll around the Boardwalk, go to the Poly, the Contemporary, or the WL in the evening and watch the Electric Water Pageant(it's very romantic to be sitting on the beach at the Poly as it goes by;) ), play mini golf, maybe pay for a 1 day admission into one of the water parks, have some nice dinners, take a ride over to Celebration, take a ride to the outlets, do a hotel tour of the different resorts

A couple of years ago my DMIL was quite sick, and DH and I, along with several other family members, took care of her at home until she died. She died in December, and we went to WDW in January, and boy, did we relax!!!!! We would get up in the morning(not at any special time...just as the spirit moved us),have a leisurely breakfast in our room or on our deck, wander around a park or the BW or DD or wherever for a while then go back to the resort in the afternoon and swim and then go out to dinner in the evening and just wander around. It was a lovely, low-key, relaxed vacation and much needed after the previous 3 stressful months. We spent some time in the parks, but not tons, and it was fine. Maybe break up the 5 days with a day in the park, the next day not, and so on.

Disney Doll has the right idea! OKW is a great place to relax and unwind. I'll be checking into a studio on Sunday also, but I can only stay 4 nights since I'm leaving on the Wonder Thursday. I'm not sure which part of the trip will be more relaxing - but I can't wait to find out!

Hi, Heather!

You could de-stress by having a massage at GF or SSR spa. I got Marisa's Mom a gift certificate at GF, and she loved it! A day of pampering sounds like it's really called for.

Take out a Watermouse. They're not very fast, but they're a blast.

Have a good drink. In fact, have alot of them. I could use one myself. All of the pool bars are good. Outer Rim inside the CR is particularly good. Best vodka martinis on the planet.

There's no better way to follow a few good drinks than with a good meal. We went to Artist's Point and California Grill this last trip. True, they are a big spend, but they're worth it. Especially if you're foodies like Marisa's Mom and me.

And I can't think of a better way to finish a meal than with a good drink. And a cigar. Not a smoker? Have another drink.

If that cough is still bothering you (bronchitis can linger) nothing loosens up the chest like alcohol. Not coughing - have a drink anyway. It'll help you sleep.

At the end of a taxing day like this at WDW, you'll want to unwind with a nightcap.

Do everything. Do nothing. Just have fun. And have a drink.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I'd love to have a drink or a few, but unfortunately I can't :( . Not to go into any graphic details but I just found out that along with having to have my gallbladder removed eventually because of gallstones, I also have ulcers on my esophagus so the Dr. prescribed some kind of medicine and said don't have...spicy foods, tomato products, citrus food or drinks, chocolate, fried foods, fatty foods or alcohol...jeez, what's left? Anyway, I'll definitely try most of the other suggestions, but have a drink or two for me okay? Also the romantic ideas sound good, I'm just not sure how my two year old would feel about them (I'm sure he'd love to push Daddy away with a big "Go" (his favorite word lately it seems) and have me all to himself for the water pageant-if he'd sit still enough for it that is. Two seconds later he'd probably be telling me to go and want to hang out with Daddy somewhere. Hmmm...but that massage at the Grand Floridian sounds good, might have to let the boys go off by themselves somewhere...thanks again! Oh and Mickeys#1fan-A smoker I am definitely not, so I'll pass on that cigar, you enjoy yours though (just try to stay downwind ;) )

Hi there, just got back form our 1st OKW trip at a studio (with a 2 year old also!) One word or advice, don't get a room that is near the road. We were in 2925, it wasn't bad as far as walking goes, but it was so close to the road and the busses go flying by, at all hours. Each bus passes 2 times because of the mixed up bus system at OKW. Before we left people told us to rent a car at OKW and we didn't listen. Now I know what they are talking about. (For part of the trip BIL and SIL were there was a car, but no car seat!) Also don't forget a rain cover for the 2 year old stroller, we learned the hard way it can rain at any time, when you go in a ride it looks fine, come out and it pouring.

You might want to consider getting one day at water park (DVC has a discount.) We found that both TL and BB has a really great water play area for young kids. Our DD (2 year and 5 months old) loved them both. Also they can do the lazy river and wave pools.

Take it easy, we had annual passes so we didn't mind doing mornings and evening in the parks, but it really rained alot in evening. Also OKW allows floats and such in the pools for younger kids, out DD really liked hers.

Have a great trip. Hope you like OKW, while it was charming, we were a bit disapointed after staying at BCV. The CM were very friendly and nice. Lots of Welcome homes, and it felt like they really ment it.

Have a great time.

Hi Heather,
We will be checking in at OKW on Sunday also. I hope you feel better and have a wonderful time. :) I had my gallbladder out years ago and I was at a party the following Friday. Easy surgery.

Thanks for the advice DisneyPhd, I'm glad you had a good time! Hi Gail, well at least I don't have to have the surgery before we leave. I hope you have a wonderful time yourself! :) Maybe we'll run into each other at checkin!

Hi
We check in on Monday. Im finishing up a 19 day strech with-out any days off. I really need this break.
We'll be riding a Honda Goldwing from Memphis. SO if you see a slighty older, chubby, couple on a bike with TN tags Say Howdy!!!

Sounds like you do need a break! We'll be in a dark burgundy conversion van, two tired but happy parents and a gorgeous 22 month old boy full of energy!
