It's freezing here in NYC.
The Good:
We're driving down to WDW on Saturday. We'll be making a stop overnight in NC to visit and pick up DH's brother and his family. Then it's off to OKW on Sunday!!!
Can't wait. Mild weather, Grand Villa, the parks, no work, ... now that's the life!!!
The Bad:
Our whole family has been sick like dogs the past 2 weeks. Almost 5 yo DD is all better and back in school. Poor baby 2 yo DD is still listless with hardly any appetite or energy and some coughing. First I worried about her fever (broke 3 days ago) and lack of eating and drinking, now I worried because she's not sleeping. She will just lie down with her eyes open all day and night. Wants to be held but still won't sleep.
Took her to the doctor twice. Once early last week, fever but no sign of infection - told to give fever reducer and lots of liquids. Fever lasted 6 days and she just got weaker and weaker - refused to eat or drink. Went back this Monday, this time found an ear infection. So, she's on the antibiotics and is more comfortable - no more fever, is starting to eat (very little) and drink more, still some coughing but it's the lack of sleep that is worrying me now. It's probably form all the drugs.
DH and I are sick too. Got sick one after another starting the weekend after Christmas. We are now much, much better than over New Years. But my head is still all congested, I totally lost my voice, and both of us have coughing fits.
So, three of the 4 of us are recovering but I sure hope we all feel better in 2 days. DH and I have to take turns driving. And I just want my poor baby all better. Seeing her thin, tired, sad face just breaks my heart.
So, I'm looking forward to get out of Dodge, but I'm not looking forward to making the drive. Thought about flying but with the higher fares, tightened security measures, need to pack better and lighter, need for a car rental, and my ear ache (head congested, one ear stopped up, hurts when I blow my nose), it just didn't seem woth it.
PLUS, my parents in-laws are not my favorite people right now. Some sort of squabble involving MY family business. My parents are glad they don't have to see them (they aren't coming). DH is so mad at his parents that he is refusing to sleep under the same roof with them!
I'm trying to keep things civil for the sake of the kids.
Called MS today and switched DH's parents into the studio reserved for his sister. His sister and son is now staying with us and his brother's family in the GV. He told her it was because it would be easier to not have to buy 2 of everything (milk, etc) to stock the 2 units. Besides, the kids would want to stay together. She was fine with the switch.
Didn't bother asking the IL's. Although, MIL finally did call this morning to ask how we were feeling - she heard we were sick. Hello? At least one of us has been sick for the last 2 WEEKS! They've been avoiding us/me. Fine with us. Let's see how they're going to avoid us next week. Kept that call real short since I had no voice - let her talk to the grand kids.
Sorry to vent. Feel better already.
The Good:
They will only be there for 8 nights and then we're kicking them out and enjoying 4 nights in a one bedroom with our own little family. My aunt, a fellow DVCer, will be coming down to WDW with 5 of her 8 kids that week in her own unit. So, we'll see them. My kids always have a blast with my young cousins.
Well, off to finishing working/packing.
2 more days,...
