We are leaving for Disney in 6 days for our first trip.....anyone have any tips for us ?

Congratulations! I don't know where you are staying or how many people and kids are in your party to give you specific advice. Some general tips are:
  • Get to the parks as early as you can in the day when it is cooler and lines aren't as bad.
  • Take some breaks in the heat of the day by either returning to your resort (if you are on WDW property) for some pool time, or catch the indoor shows and atractions in the heat of the afternoon to take advantage of AC.
  • Drink plenty of water to survive the heat without wilting (you can get free glasses of tap water at the counter service locations if you want).
  • Go in with a game plan of what you want to see each day, but don't stress if you are falling behind due to lines - just readjust your plan to prioritize "must see" attractions and skip some of the minor ones if you need to. It is not worth majorly stressing your self out.
  • Use Fast Pass whenever you can to same some time in lines.
  • If you have little ones, make sure you find out where the Baby Care station is at each park - they can be life-savers.
Most of all - enjoy your days and HAVE FUN!!! I'm so jealous! :upsidedow

There is a good character breakfast that seems to be overlooked by many. last Aug. we stayed at the Dolphin & over at the Swan is the Garden Grove Cafe where they have a character b'fast. It only has 2 characters out at one time, but the place is virtually empty so the characters spend a lot of time at your table & come back to visit you numerous times. The best part is it was MUCH cheaper than the usual char. b'fasts. TYou have a choice of
having the buffet or ordering off the menu. This is what makes the price so reasonable! While we were there the characters then changed & 2 new ones came out. It is also a much calmer character meal experience. We ate at the Cape May Cafe at the Y&BC during this same vacation & we didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the one at the Garden Grove. & we spent a lot more $ at Cape May Cafe!

CBR has great Mickey waffles. Delicious!

Also you can purchase milk, a large water bottle and a few other items in the resort giftshop. We got a milk, bread, and a large water for the frig in our room. We used our snack credits to get them.

Also we got a Passporter book so we could decide on exactly which attractions we didn't want to miss. Maybe you could pick one up to occupy your travel time.

Also whatever park had extra late hours we avoided for that day hoping to miss some crowds. But we had park hopper tickets, so if we wanted we could have still hopped over to the park later on in the day.

Also the laundry rooms at CBR were very nice. I brought a couple rolls of quarters. You can purchase detergent and softner sheets at the laundry room. I think I used 2 washers full, but split the loads into 4 dryers on high heat.

Have fun on your trip.

Hi --
We are in Disney right now, our first family trip and my first time back in (gulp!) 20 years!
My biggest advice is to use a tour plan! We've done all 4 parks this week and pretty much kept to the "stategies" found in the Unofficial Guide and its website (absolutely worth the 8 bucks to join). We got to each park at opening and were able to do all the main things (and then some) by 12 or 1:00 each day. Fortunately we have an additional week ahead of us, so we can get back to the things we've missed or repeat things we liked, but we never waited more than a few minutes for anything. :woohoo: Even at Magic Kingdom, where we went today. What a blessing, with three under-5's in our family, not to spend time waiting in the heat in a long line.
I'm sure folks who are really familar with the parks can do it well without a tour plan, but I'm convinced it's helped make our "newbie" trip a success. The #1 tip is to absolutely be at the gate when it opens, esp. MK.
Good luck and have a great time!
