I am going to have to use an ECV due to many serious health issues I have. I am renting one from Walker mobility. My concern is if I go into a dinner reservation, a ride, store, whatever, and I have to leave it (or can I ride it into places like "Its a Bug Life". "Great Movie Ride" etc., where do I leave those,do I just ride it in or what? If I have to leave it outside, will it be safe? I am just really concerned that while I am in a show or something, when I come out, it may be gone!

Many place you can ride it right in...
like 'It's Tough to be a Bug', you will ride it right into the theatre. You will be in the back row of the theatre, but that isn't always a bad thing. The view will be just fine.

at 'the Great Movie Ride', you will ride your ecv all the way until it is time to board the ride. At that time the will have you do one of two things... they will either ask you to park it over to the side before taking a seat in the ride vehicle or they will have you just get in the ride vehicle and they will move it to the side (using the 'free wheel mode') I have had both scenarios happen. Either is not a big deal. Sometimes if they are trying to load faster, they want to move it for you. It will be right over on the side when you get back (still in the building).

There will be times where you will have to leave it outside of bldgs. People really don't bother them. Just be sure to take the KEY with YOU NO MATTER WHAT!! Without the key, they have to push it, they're not going to do that, LOL! And every once in a GREAT while a CM may have to move it, so if you come out and don't see it... Don't automatically panic and think it has been taken, look around. They, like strollers (but not as much as strollers!!!) sometimes need to be moved for various reasons. It does happen on occasion. I have not heard of one being stolen. I own my own ecv and have never had it bothered at WDW. Other than maybe occasionally finding someone leaning on it that shouldn't have been.

There is supposedly a sticky at the top of this forum and it should provide info as to which rides will require you to transfer to a wheelchair for the line (pirates comes to mind) and which ones will allow you to stay in your ecv.
HTH. don't worry to much! Walker is GREAT!! Have a great trip!! :goodvibes

Follow the link in my signature or look near the top of this board for the disABILITIES FAQs thread.
Post 11 of that thread has information about accessibility - which you can stay in the ECV for the whole attraction and which require a transfer.

On page 2 of that thread, there is a bit more information about ride cars - the type of transfer, etc.
that information is in posts 18-21, with a list of attractions with warnings in post 22.

One of my twins couldn't tolerate many rides [ex, major panic attack at THM], so we hung around the enter/exits at a lot of rides while my other two rode with dh. At MANY I saw CMs using master keys to turn them around for easier exit, but I never saw anyone else even touch them.

As long as you keep your key, I wouldn't worry.

I do hope that they were only using a master key for their OWN in park ecvs!
They should not be turning on personal ecvs!! Personally owned ecvs and outside rentals should only be moved using 'freewheel' mode! My ECV has a lower weight limit and I would be very upset to find that someone of size turned my ECV on and then moved it! That could cause irreparable damage to my personally owned equipment! Not OK in my book! I've already had a person of size want to move it at Soarin' using the key. NOPE!!

And, maybe food too. I've seen video of squirrels going into bags on strollers and stealing food.

They eat through back packs it funny squirrels here in ny could bench press the stroller they are so skinny in Florida so they must get healthy snacks from the strollers their do it with people watching to. They must have a pact with the birds they handle the low part of the stroller and they get the high because I seen birds and squirrels going through some of the strollers in mk.

If you're ever not sure where to leave it, a CM will probably be able to advise you. The CM's stationed outside attractions certainly will be, and they'll absolutely be able to tell you if it can come in the queue with you or not.

The only place where I've found inconsistency in that department is Buzz Lightyear. Not only have the rules about where ECV's go in the queue changed several times since I or someone in my party have started needing one, I've noticed that there isn't always someone out at the main entrance directing people like there is at other attractions. Or maybe I've just always happened to catch them at bad times.

You'll probably see plenty of other parked ECV's and soon get the idea of where the right places are.

I agree with taking the key with you. I learned the hard way about this when I didn't take the key with me and a CM moved my scooter by the key and rammed it into a post breaking the deck of my personal scooter. Live and learn.

Sue N. Where do I find the disability f&q thread? Sorry but I have no idea where to find it. Sorry.

It has been my Expierence that kids can be fascinated buy ECV's and it's controls when they see one parked and unfortunately many parents do not bother to teach their little darlings not to touch so it is a good practice to check the speed dial when you come back to it as many a time I have come out to find the speed having been turned all the way up to the fastest speed.

The first time this happened it was quite a shock when I sat down turned it on and proceeded to move at lightning speed backwards with quite a jolt. Now I always check before getting on it again.
