Love the Trip report so far. I hope your DD is OK. I have a daughter 14 too and my DS is only 6 and she doesn't treat him any better. It is all about them isn't!LOL. The only difference is my DD loves her picture taken too but not from me. I haven't had her in any of our Photo pass pictures or on my digital in 2 yrs.
She will get her own photo pass , but OMG she can't get in mine.
After vacation people say "do you have one kids or two?"
We just came back and she watched our video and realized she was only in it the last day during lunch when I was videoing. So she kept telling people thats because my Mom never had the camera when I was with her. What!
I never leave the camer at the room.
Maybe she will reme,ber that and get in the picture when we go in Nov.

Anyway back to you. Keep it coming.

Ha Ha.. at least I don't feel like I am alone with DD! Yes, the basic routine with our photopass was that we would take a picture together and then my son and I would get "Tossed aside" so that she could pose with the Characters herself! Too funny about your camera.. yes teens seem to have their own views of things for sure!

Great TR. Leaving Thursday with 2 DD both teens. I told them to leave the attitude at home or the parents are going alone . Do you think crowd levels are lower than past years? Any tour groups? Hope your daughter is well.

I hope you get to read this before you go. I hope you have a GREAT trip! Yes, were were there july 6-13. That was high season in the summer and there were crowds. We followed a tour plan and had no trouble. There were loads of tour groups but they may be dying down about now. Thanks about my daughter! She actually had her first night back to cheer practice tonight and was feeling pretty good. We are very grateful!

Well, we got back to the room with her swollen knee. Lucas went out to the ice machine and got a big bag of ice and we started to ice it down. With Jenna doing competitive cheer for so many years we were all too familiar with knee injuries. A few of her friends had their cheer careers end too early from blowing out their ACL's etc.. When I saw the swelling on her knee I thought ACL right away. I gave her some advil and we got right to bed. She and Lucas fell asleep pretty quickly but I tossed and turned and had bad dreams all night. I was so worried about her and what this could mean for her.
I was really convinced that she may need some type of surgery when we got home. If you remember back, I said she had been sick from January through into April. Jenna could not wait until summer! She was healthy and was starting on a new cheer team and just wanted to make up for all her lost time being sick over the winter. The thought of having her come home in mid July and need surgery would have just killed her summer! I was freaking out! For the first time on the trip I REALLY wished my husband was here! Not that I didn't miss him but I just didn't miss him being in Disney with us. Well, now I needed him!!

We woke up the next morning, (well the kids woke up, I never really slept) She had a hard time walking but she was able to hobble around. We had a 9 am reservation at Ohanas and Jenna had been waiting months to have breakfast with Stitch. I kept the reservation and we had breakfast.
The breakfast was great but I had no appetite. I had the juice that was so yummy and a few bites of eggs and potatoes. Jenna got a few more pictures with stitch and she was happy. She wore her Stitch shirt and wore her Stitch hands and Stitch made a big fuss about seeing her all "stitched out". Here is her picture with him...

We left the breakfast and headed on out to the Orlando Regional Hospital.
They were very nice there and we were in and out in two hours. I consider myself lucky for that! They took a look at her and some xrays but basically told me that it looked, "normal" but she needed and MRI to know for sure. DUH!!! I had hoped they would take an MRI but they said they only do them in the ER if it's a surgical need. So off we went with our knee immobilizer and crutches. I was just numb. I couldn't believe this had happened!
We were supposed to go to TL in the afternoon but there was no way Jenna could make her way around there. She offered to stay back at the hotel but there was no way I could leave her there alone. I know Lucas was really bummed out about not going to TL but her never said a word in front of his sister about it. We hung out at the hotel for a bit but the kids got bored so we took a ride over to POP century to get some lunch.
We had stayed there before and the kids really liked it. They especially liked the slushie machines in the food court so we brought our mugs along and had lunch there. Lucas had a nacho platter and Jenna had the lo mein. That was a nice boost for them and then we headed back to hang out some more at the hotel.
At this point I was ready to pack it in and go home! We weren't set to go home for three more days but I just felt so trapped with her unable to walk. I called the airlines to see if I could move my flight home to an earlier time. The only time I could get was the next morning. By this time I would have had less than 9 hours to pack up the room, check out and get some sleep. I woke Jenna up and asked her if she wanted to head right home and she said, "no not quite so soon" It would have been like leaving without any type of mental preparation. We wouldn't have the chance to pick up and more souvies or anything! As much as I wanted to head home that was just too sad so we decided to stay until the end of our trip and make the best of it.

We wake up Friday morning.. it is SUPER DUPER hot! Basically it was one of those Florida hot days that we had been mentally preparing for!
Jenna's knee was sore so we loaded her up with Advil and plopped her into her wheelchair. I was very surprised to learn that the WDW hotels have wheelchairs on their grounds. I asked up at the front desk and they sent me over to the luggage area. I asked about getting one and they just rolled it out and said. "just return it when you leave or when you don't need it anymore"... That was it!! I was able to take it with me anywhere we needed and there was NO charge! I couldn't believe it!

We decided to take a bus ride over to DHS and see about going on some rides. We took a later start this morning and the park was hopping already! We checked out the stand by times for toy story but it was waaaay long already and the FP returns were beyond when we would be staying.. We strolled around the park and looked around a lot. We rode Star Tours and then went to a late breakfast at Hollywood and vine. I had never been here before. Check one more off the list! lol.. The food was great except it was a real pain getting the food in a buffet with Jenna in the wheelchair. The CM's placed us in the far, far corner away from the buffet in a nearly empty restaurant. They only had one side of the buffet open and of course it was the opposite side of where we were sitting.. why???? I guess to make the Mom, (me!) run around more! We were hungry and just glad they could take us! I had no ADR's for that day. The funny part was that until we were seated I had no idea they had characters there! We are so way past the age of the charaters going around the room that we didn't even know who they were! Little Einsteins I think???? lol.. We just said "hi" and kept on eating.. we were not in the mood! They must have thought we were crazy! We did however have time to sing the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse song and the "hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog" song! We love that!

The reason I had no ADR's for today was that we originally had planned to go over to Universal for the day. My good friend Cheryl and her family were staying at the Hard Rock for a few days before getting on the Disney Cruise. Then they were going to CSR for a few days when they got off the cruise. Cheryl is my best cheer mom friend and my partner in crime. We travel the country together with our daughters and always have so much fun! Our girls are great friends too. This year although we are super happy and excited for our daughters, we are a little bummed out because we both left our former gym and are at new gyms. The only downside is that our girls picked two different gyms. We are lucky enough that both of our gyms are great friends and we will be traveling to a lot of the same competitions so there will be chances to share rooms together. Cheryl and I will be returning to WDW in Sept for a "mommies trip" Look World here we come! Now THAT will be a trip report to read!!
With Jenna being down and out we decided to stay in WDW and just meet up with them later in the night for a drink. ... but back to our day...

We finished up breakfast and then headed on out of DHS. We went over to Epcot by boat. The boat rides takes a little while but we were really just in touring mode at this point so the down time just taking it all in was really nice. I was still numb with worry over Jenna so the scenery did help it a lot.
We got to Epcot and the kids were just bored... We kind of had such a downer the day before and we were not in our happy, peppy Disney mode.. I was bummed out because this is not what this trip was supposed to be! We rode Spaceship Earth again taking the wheelchair entrance.. it was fun to see all the back door loading areas on some of the rides, we did learn more about dis that's for sure! Then we headed back to The Land and rode the boat ride again. Lucas was still just taking it all in! As we exited they announce that you can take the special walking tour of the Land called, "Behind the Seeds". Lucas asked right away if we could do it. Jenna chimed in too that she really wanted to as well. I went over to the desk and asked and there was a tour starting in 15 minutes! Yes!! Then I held my breath and asked if it was wheelchair accesible. Yes!! whoo hooo!
I signed us all up and got my 15% off by using my Disney Visa!!!
The kids were so excited that we got in. This is what really changed the whole tone of the trip. Suddenly we were doing something new and exciting and the trip was on an upswing tempo again! YAY!!!
The tour was soooo interesting. It was about an hour and they really explained all the stuff you see on the boat ride in much more detail. I was afraid the kids would get bored but they were so into it. It was really great!
While in there the skies opened up and it poured for a few hours!! Yes hours!! we stayed in there and then had dinner in the food court. It was really good. I had a great salad with seared tuna on it and the kids had chinese food. We headed on back to the hotel and changed and drove over to Hard Rock and the kids went in the pool there with their friends and I had a drink with my girl Cheryl. Cheryl's husband Larry is really great. He just kind of found a lounge chair and a beer and let us visit for a while. It was nice to be able to talk to a good friend who knows and understands what this knee injury could be on all the levels especially with cheering. She calmed me down a bit but I could see the concern in her eyes when she looked at Jenna's knee. They have a zero entry pool at hard rock so Jenna was able to hobble in and then lower herself onto her arms and just kind of lay on her belly and have her legs float out behind her and talk with Chelsea.
After ice cream for the kids we headed on back to the hotel and got ready for bed. We had 8am CP reservations in the MK the next day!

Thanks! Lucas is a great kid.. he was always trying to do anything he could for his sister. We laughed a lot about it but really we were her little "slaves" for the rest of the trip. I'm sure it's now how she wanted it but think about it.... The world DID revolve around her at this point so in her teen mind.. it was fine! I may "reward Lucas will a little trip next may and get to a water park if his grades are good. Jenna may have to come too.. it's not her fault she got hurt! At least that's how I'm thinking I'll sell the idea of the trip to my husband!

I can't wait to hear how Jenna's knee is doing now!

Hi! Well, I'll give you all the post trip report here... We got home and the next day went to our Dr. He was sick of seeing us after Jenna had been sick all winter! He sent us for an MRI and it only showed a sprain of the ACL. Both the Dr and I had feared that it was either an ACL tear or her miniscus (sp?) Both of which would need surgery.. you get surgery in mid july and your summer is pretty much done!!! Plus her new team.. starting high school and her ability to bounce back to a high competition level was VERY scary. We were doing the happy dance when the Dr called and told me the results! Thank GOD!!!
She has been basically just resting since we returned on july 13th.. once a day I go in the back yard with her and plop her on her lounge raft in the pool and set her afloat! Her tan is a KILLER! We went to the orthopedist this week and he is not even at all worried about it. He checked her out good and told us that it was a very minor sprain and that she will feel like herself again soon. Her ACL is in perfect condition and he has no worries. That was such great news. He told her she could go back to light duty practice and she did on Wednesday and the knee felt great. She starts PT today and will go for the next 4 weeks just to make sure the knee is as good as it can be!

We really did enjoy the trip.. sure it wasn't how we expected it to be but hey.. that's life! Other than about a 24 hour period we really were in the Disney mood. now I need Disney with alcohol!!!
lol.. oh that girls trip WILL be fun!! The trip in Sept came to be because I was complaining that once the kids are big and doing their own thing I'll need to go along to Disney with Cheryl. Being she has the vacation club until practically the year 3000 she's ready to go! We started talking about going when the kids are in school etc.. Suddenly Cheryl said to me.. "Who says we have to wait until they are grown??" "Let's go now"! I am sooo excited for this trip! I can't wait!

Saturday morning comes quickly! I guess I underestimated how tired I would be pushing that wheelchair around. The kids were just dead in the beds. They asked me if we could cancel our ADR at the CP that morning.. Under normal circumstances this would have killed me!!!! But we had basically done it all!! We had lunch at the CP this trip already and rode just about everything in MK. Many of them a few times...

Of course I wasn't going to let them sleep the day away but I got them up and to the parks by 9:15. We went right on over to Space Mountain and went right in. We were going to get FP's but with Jenna in the wheelchair they let us right in the FP line. Getting that wheelchair into SM is no treat!! Keep in mind that Jenna is almost 5'6" and weighs 125 that is all muscle! I had to use all my weight pulling back as we walked down the ramp in the early park of the line. then I had to PUSH up the incline! By the time we got to the CM at the front of the line I was tired! Jenna was still not sure if she could ride because her knee was in an immobilizer with 7 metal bars in it. She could not bend it and we were not sure if she would fit! We got to the front of the line and the CM told us that the 3rd seat in each car had the most leg room. It was a perfect fit and the most comfortable ride for her! Luckily it was since it's our favorite!
After SM we went on Buzz and Stitch was out once again... a few more Stitch pictures. and then we took another ride on the TTA. After that we went back against the traffic on Main Street and had a bite to eat at the main street bakery. I have been to WDW well over 35 times in my life... I just find it amazing how there are some places that I have just never eaten at! The Bakery was one of them! I'm telling you.. I have never even looked inside the place!!! It was not what I had expected.. it was even better! I had a triple chocolate muffin.. Jenna had the banana bread. This is our friend Cheryl's favorite so she had to try it. Lucas got the french toast bake? I can't remember what it was called but it was layers of french toast all piled up like a pastry. Yummmmmy! I had no idea there were so many tables inside! I just thought is was those 2 or 3 tables outside! After a nice little break we headed out and wandered over to Liberty Square. we went into the Christmas shop. We have purchased sooooo many things this trip already! Basically I just kept a look out for things to buy on my Sept trip with Cheryl. Each year I buy my kids a special ornament. It started when they were born and I give it to them when we are trimming the tree. I date them and they are unique to them usually symbolizing something from that year. I was scouting out the Stitch and Chip and Dale ornaments for this coming year! My plan is to collect these ornaments and present them to Jenna and Lucas as they get married and have their own trees to decorate. (Well.. in a perfect world that's how it would go! ) After the Christmast shop I swiftly shuffled the kids into the Hall of Presidents! They were not too happy but Jenna couldn't walk so she had no choice! A show was starting in less than 5 minutes so we timed it well. Jenna is a big history girl so she really loved it. I don't think we had been in there since she was little so she didn't remember it. because of the wheelchair we sat right up front and as "boring" as it can be it really is amazing to think of how they made those figurines. Especially the more current presidents and how they are the acutal suits they wore and that they casted their faces etc..
We took some rides on the HM, did the Country bears and then went on over to Splash and BTMRR. Then is started to pour!! It rained for a bit and slowly cleared up in time for the 3pm parade...

It was a fun "get away" trip. DH had to stay home and work so I took the kids to VA to visit friends. Did a day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and had a great time

Don't feel bad, we laugh at DD all the time
She was 8 at the time and had to beat her brother thru the maze. We thought it was just a splinter DH took her back to the room (thankfully we were staying at the BC) and DS & I stayed for Illuminations. When I got back to the room he still hadn't been able to get it out with the tweezers, she was miserable and he finally gave in and took her to the urgent care. They got back at 2am after they had to make a T incision in her knee to pull the "splinter" out. Turns out it was shaped like an arrow with only the point sticking out and was almost 1/2 inch long and wide The rest of the week she couldn't swim or get her leg wet

You guys seemed to get alot done done on your last day, even with Jenna's bum knee! I read in one of your other replies, that she is doing better and that it is only a mild sprain. What GREAT news!!

I felt myself cringe when you said jenna had gotten her foot stuck and hurt her knee. As a cheer mom and a cheer coach red flags fly when you hear "I hurt my knee", I am so happy that she didn't have to sit out another season.

Reese is a flyer, she's 5 foot and weighs 88 pounds, She was dropped from a double down a couple years ago and ended up sitting the majority of the season out, she fractured the bone on the side of the knee, pulled the ligaments around the knee and sprained her ankles, she did everything the DR ordered her to in order to avoid surgery, 5 months of PT, but no surgery!!!!! she made it to her last 2 comps and then nationals in Myrtle beach. She still has problems with her knee, but what cheerleader doesn't? At least she was able to walk around on our last disney trip, poor jenna being confined to a wheel chair. I hope she is doing so much better now.
Yeah, I would say you earned a girls trip in Sept. What a stressful thing to have happened on this trip.

Yes, we did get a lot done.. I was a bit more tired pushing her chair but hey, we were in Disney we made the best of it. Jenna is up to 100% capacity as of now and is tumbling like a demon. Thank God! This kid has had such a tough year cheer wise already. I'm praying for a smooth season for her. She truly deserves it.

Yes, Knee problems are something that we cheer moms know all to much about. As a follow up to the last few weeks I have been away. thankfully Jenna is doing great. I do have some bad news. My friend Cheryl's daughter Chelsea injured herself tumbling two weeks ago. She did wind up tearing her ACL and had to have surgery this past Wednesday. We are all just devastated by this. Chels is doing great but she is out of cheering for 6 months. She was on her dream team this year too. She was traveling to south jersey to be on one of the countries most elite cheer teams. She will be welcomed back when she recovers but it is a devastating blow. When you all think of it send some pixie dust on to her.. she really needs it. Chels will be back on her feet and up and moving by the time that Cheryl and I head to WDW. We are going to need to "de stress" big time on that trip!!

I know.. I'm sorry, I have been busy working, my DH opened a new dental practice in Basking ridge just a mile from our house. I have been working with him along with my day I work in Summit. Add to it cheer practices at night and it seems we have been hopping down to LBI just about every weekend or Ocean City, NJ to visit our friend's shore houses. I want to finish this up soon!

Well, we grabbed a turkey leg to munch on and pick on while we watched the 3 pm parade. We were placed in the handicap viewing area because of Jenna's wheel chair. Next to us was a group of about 5 mentally challenged older ladies. These ladies were anywhere from 55 years in age to about 80. Most were in wheelchairs and a few were not. They had their aides with them and these young girls were terrific with them. The parade was great as usual. As the music started these ladies were getting so excited! They started clapping their hands and dancing in their chairs. The aides were asking them. "Doris do you see the tiger?" as Tigger hopped on over. The Characters were just amazing. It was if they knew to go right up to these ladies. I just can't tell you how excited they all were. That's when I lost it. Disney parades can make me emotional on a any given day as it is. Looking at these ladies and their happiness just made me sit there and cry like a baby! That was my true moment of the Disney magic. These ladies who most likely had been overlooked in life so many times were the center of attention and were so happy. It was just the feeling that dreams can come true there. I just can't fully describe how amazing it was.

After the parade we made our way towards the exit. We hopped on a bus and headed on over to the FWL we had dinner ressies as Whispering Canyon. We liked it alot. Jenna and Lucas had a BBQ skillet meal and I had a maple glazed trout. We were in the back room of the restaurant so it was pretty quiet where we were but our server had a great personality. We hung around the hotel a bit and the kids did some pin trades. We shopped a bit and then decided to go back to the MK for "one last look". We rode the TTA again and shopped a bit more. Then we took our last look at the castle and headed on out. We quickly got a bus back to the room and we started to pack our stuff up. After being in a room for 7 days you certainly start to "spread out" a bit. I was shocked at how much I had to get together!
The next morning we woke about 9 to our last wake up call. I finished packing up and brought our bags over to the check in counter. We did carry on coming but now with Jenna in the wheel chair it would be impossible to carry it all with us. I checked all our suitcases and it was a big help!
The kids and I had breakfast, hung out on at the pool for a bit, they played in the arcade and Jenna got a Stitch tatoo on her ankle. We then loaded on up in the car and headed on out for the airport. The rental agency did not have the wheel chair I requested so instead they had an employee drive us right up to the departure area. Continental had tons of wheelchairs so that was great! We went into the airport and even got our own security line because of her wheelchair. I was shocked about that but then I realized what an ordeal it was to get her through. she could not use the brace or the crutches as they all had to be scanned. They had to inspect the wheelchair top to bottom as well. It was not easy but everyone was super nice and we made it through and to our gate. We got taken on the plane early with a few little old ladies. and we were settled in our seats. Now the only catch was that Jenna had to sit with her leg straight. She had to sit twisted to the side with her leg resting across my lap and her foot on her brother's lap. (ugh!!) I think we were more sore than her at the end of the flight. At least we got a plane with a great new entertainment sysytem with touch screens and multiple movie and gaming choices. The flight went very quickly and we all survived her leg crushing us!

Well that's my trip. It was not all I expected to be but we made it all it could be. I am just so grateful that she will be OK. If anything was a plus on this trip I think my husband had such sympathy for us and our ordeal that we will be able to go back again sooner (me and the kids) than we expected to be able to. Jenna just got her travel schedule for cheer. Besides going to Atlanta and up and down the east coast we are going to Orlando in March. We already plan on grabbing two days in Disney for a fun little trip! I'm sure I'll have to take Lucas back again to even things up for them!

That is so sweet about the ladies and the parade. I would have gotten emotional too. Things like that remind me how much I have to be thankful for!
