Leaving a stroller in Orlando

Has anyone ever done this?

DS is 5 and never uses a stroller anymore, but we are concerned that WDW is a lot more walking than he is used to and we still have the old beat-up stroller out in the garage.

We are thinking of bringing it down with us just in case. It's free, we can use it as a luggage cart in the airport, and if he ends up needing a stroller we won't have to rent one. But we really have no need for it at home after the trip and are considering just leaving it there when we go home.

Has anyone ever done this? Where should we leave it? We don't want to create a problem for anyone by abandoning this stroller.

I haven't personally- but it is done all the time

WDW picks them up and brings them to their Cast Connections Store (where all unclaimed lost and found items end up) they are then resold to cast members

BTW for any others reading this- if you know a cast member and are heading down to wdw have them pick you up a stroller while there for really cheap (less than the cheapie umbrella strollers lol) and then you can leave it behind again.

My friend who is a CM told me they have had a few brand new strollers there (some that were quite expensive to purchase) many umbrella strollers and a variety of others of different ages-

So just be sure to leave it on Disney property and at least it will find a new home

We've done this before, twice in fact. Our kids were 4 and 7 and then 5 and 8 the first two trips. Youngest was out of a stroller, I had gotten rid of ours. I was lucky enough to find umbrella strollers with sunshade and small basket at garage sales for $5 and $8. Didn't think twice about leaving it behind when we were ready to leave. We looked for families coming in with kids near the ages of ours, that thought they didn't need strollers but might realize that there is so much walking and in the heat it just really helps. I've been flamed before by someone who said they would never put their child in a "cheap" stroller. I had to laugh, if it is comfortable, the right height for pushing and the wheels track right, then who cares if it didn't cost much? They were name brand strollers, just used!

The first time we did this, I intended to gate check the stroller but hadn't discussed it with hubby. Without checking with me, he checks the thing through. It wasn't bundled or protected in any way. When we picked it up from the carousel it had been damaged, the sunshade had to be fastened with a shoestring but otherwise it was fine. We got a kick out of - it was the easiest one to spot in a crowd and no one would dream of taking it because it looked so sad!

Another thought is to post your date of depature and see if another DISer would like to take it off your hands while you are down there. You can start a whole thread of 'pass on the stroller'..... :cool1:
