Oh definitely. The same thing can happen in restaurants so anybody planning on using one there should make sure they tip in cash rather than adding it to the credit card receipt as that can cause the same problem.

Best bet is just to do what we do and use it as an ATM card but get bulk amounts out to cut down on the ATM fees.

i agree, we only use it at atms and shops and pay the tip in cash that way I know exactly whats on it and not have to worry about anything

It's very common for hotels and car hire companies in the US to do an authorisation on a credit card by default, it varies as to how much this will be but for this reason I would use a card you're not relying on for spending for this (if possible) I know Disney hotels only require one if you want to charge stuff to your KTTW so you could easily decline this if you wanted or apparently they will allow you to leave cash instead

So I wouldn't have to leave a credit card if I didn't want charging on my room key????

We did the charging facility last year and found it great! So much easier than carrying around lots of travellers cheques and dollars. We put charging on both our cards and then just paid through the day on them. I suppose you sorta can loose track, but we never found we went overboard at all.

I then paid each morning before leaving for our next park, clearing the balance for the next round

One thing I did forget though, was to pay my balance off the evening before we checked out. Disney then charged my credit card to clear the balance. I'd been paying each day with travellers cheques, but didn't think about doing that the evening before we left, d'uh!

Thought it was great - don't know how we'll get on next time though, 5 adults and only a $500 a day spend It'll be a fight for who's using it!! I think we'll be fine though, just pay off each day like we did last time
