Leave Resort for 3 days but keep room - is this possible??

We've done it several times too. My mother lives outside of
Orlando and we usually go during free dining. So we leave our room empty for a few days and stay at my mom's over the weekend because it's cheaper to book the 10 day stay than to check in and out and then back in again. Never told the front desk, never had any problems. They don't care as long as your room is paid for.

we always put the "'do not disturb' sign up for the whole time we are there and no one has ever tried to call us about it....we do not use housekeeping so we keep it up our whole stay.

We did this last year. We did CBR had a great deal for 7 days. Did a 3 day Carnival cruise in the middle of our days there. We did ask someone, on our way out, if we needed to do anything and they said "no" it was fine. We did not put the "Do Not Disturb" sign out.

No problems. All was well upon return. It did worry me a bit but it was fine. We did leave a number of items in the room....anything we did not need for the cruise.

Just contact the front desk and the head housekeeper. If there was a fire alarm while you were away, hotel staff and local authorities would be searching for you within the resort. Odd things happen in hotels, pipes burst, people overflow bathtubs, etc. It just makes it easier for all involved if you tell them.

Which dining plan are you doing?
Don't forget you'll have credits for your whole stay. If it's the regular plan you'll have extra credits to do a splurge -- so don't forget your ADRs.

Agreed!

OP, I don't think it'll be a problem. I've done it at a Hilton with a do not disturb sign alone. It might be nice to have somewhere to leave any "extra" stuff you may have for the park portion, that you don't need for the cruise portion, too.

we left overnight, and just let the front know. i don't know that we needed to, but it made me feel better to do so.

We did that same thing when we went to Disney (but were staying at the Hilton) and it wasn't a problem. I let the front desk person know what we were doing (I THOUGHT they might be concerned with the room key not being used), but apparently not, she looked at my like I was nuts and we went on our merry way to our 4 night Disney Wonder Cruise.

ENJOY!
