Leave for HHI in 4 DAYS!

Already started packing..leaving sat from MA staying in SC sat night and arriving Sunday 6/6 at HHI resort by 1pm..hoping for the same great weather we had last year at same time..warm(less humid than July/Aug), occasional afternoon showers..Packed lots of books for the beach. Hoping for great view of fireworks on Tuesday nights that we had last year, and watching the dolphins and kayakers on the marsh with our morning coffee from the porch. Have our fav restaurants planned and some new ones(Dye's Gullah fixins) and doing some of our own home cooking and making beach fixins for the relaxing beach days! Added a night in Savannah for the end of the trip..love the city! I have been waiting for this week for a long time....If any other dvc disers are there nest week..hope to run into you maybe at the campfire or at the beach house..

We leave on Thursday and check in...looking forward to our HH June fix. Just disappointed that the fireworks don't start til June 22nd....sure hope they still have the Tuesday pool party, tho.

The fireworks were on last year for the first week in June..wonder why it not this year? Where did you get the info? We do not have any young kids so we don't do the pool party and have not done the BBQ for the past 2 years on Tuesday nites...I may have to revamp schedule if no fireworks..we usually stay at resort that night, cook for ourselves, shop around Shelter Cove then watch the fireworks from the resort(usually been our room!). Have fun..see you at the beach if you are still there on Sunday.

We had nice view from building 31 2 yrs ago. Last year we were in the main building and also had a great view from our patio(view faced waterway to right of main building), but firewoks are set off from a barge behind the resort in the water. Many people (non disney guests)were seated on the lawn area between disney's resort and the condo next to them on the back road to Shelter Cove Mall area.

There are many vieing areas at the resort and many people come to Shelter Cove shops to view them from all over the island.

We are here right now and this year Harbourfest was shortened on both ends. It does not begin until June 22 and will end a little earlier than in years past too. There were no fireworks tonight. The Shannon Tanner concerts did begin last week though. The fireworks are launched from a barge anchored behind the pier at the DVC resort. They can be easily be seen from most of the resort buildings and the 2nd floor villas on the marsh are not obstructed by trees. The fireworks can be seen from many locations around the resort.

The weather has been very warm and humid - upper 80's the past few days and 90's are predicted for this weekend. The surf temp was 77 on our first day last Monday and had risen to 81 by Friday. The gulf stream temp is now 84 and the beach has been wonderful. The past few days we've had brief showers daily and there remains a small (20-30%) chance of showers/thunderstorms each day.

We still have another 10 days here so maybe we'll run into each other.

Thanks for the update on the weather and activities. WOW! you still have 10 days more of HHI! I wish my 4 nights could be extended, but not this year....Hope to run into you , too!

Look for two 50 somethings from MA driving a honda odyssey! We'll have our laptop and hope to se some daily posts.

My family and I leave in less than 24 hours! We are staying three nights in Palmetto Dunes then checking into Disney on Sunday. Too bad about the fireworks, but I am glad the pool party is still happening. My kids loved that last year.

I can't wait to hear all about your trip. My family and I are trevalling from CT to HHI for the first time this year. We are leaving on Sat 6/26 and planning on stopping overnight somwhere and arriving at Disney HHI on Sunday 6/27. We are scheduled to check out on 7/2. I would love to hear about your experiences at the resort as well as the traffic down and back. I am a little nervous about our first family road trip. Hope you have a great time

I'm sure you will! Your kids will love all the activities, pools and of course the beach! DS is now 19 and we are going solo, but he has many great memories of his early vacations there. We (DH ans I) love to just do the beach thing and relax, unlike our xmas trips each year to wdw. Although we have not commando toured there for the past 4 years either. Maybe we'll see you at the beach on Sunday.

Yay! Can't wait to read it-we leave Saturday June 11th, stopping at Mt. Vernon for a few hours, then on to Lumberton for the night and then arriving at HHI Sunday the 12th for the week. CAN NOT WAIT!!!
