Leather car seats... your experience

Both of our cars have leather, and we love them.

The only thing I will suggest is not putting a plastic bag with writing on the leather when it is hot. The ink on a bag melted into the leather of the front seat. The passenger seat said a big bold and backwards "THE" in blue! OOPS!

I'd never buy a car without leather seats -- they are so easy to clean, and 10 times more comfortable than cloth.

You have all be so helpful!! Since DH liked them yesterday, and it's his car, he deserves a bit of heaven on his extended commute.

Thanks,
Lois

I love my leather seats...That was the main reason I bought my 2004 Sonoma they are heated too. I have leather in my Volvo too, they are wonderful!..Some people buy for looks, I buy for heated leather!
They do have vehicles now with A/C leather as well as heated. I don't know which vehicles they come in though.

Glad that your DH will be getting his leather - I HATE long commutes - so anything to make it more comfortable is a good thing. Where you are it should be fine.

I don't like our van with the leather seats - but that's because we are in HOT, HOT, HOT Arizona! We have to carry around a basket of towels to use on the seats when we're in shorts - that's most of the summer. The leather seats get really toasty when it's 115 outside!

Never again. They lasted well, were easy to clean, but too hot for a place that is almost always hot. I got tired of burning my butt.

That's why we alway sit on a towel..No burned buns here!;)

Hot in the summer, cold in the winter....no thanks! I personally prefer cloth seats, but DH likes leather so that is what he has in his Saab (with the bun warmer :p )...............P

I've had leather seats in the last 4 cars I've had. It was recommended by my doctor for those with "bad backs". Being able to slide into a seat, and not have to lift across a seat helps alot. I didn't think it would really matter that much, but it does make a big difference.

lsyorke,

Great to hear about helping with back issues. DH has bad back, knees, feet... another reason we're hoping the AT will help to avoid the constant shifting he does during his commute. His route is literally over the river and through the woods... although not to grandmother's house ;) . The Accord also has a thermometer built in which should help in the higher areas that he travels through in the winter as well.

Heated leather seats are wonderful for the back. Even in warmer days or hot days if the back is really bad, turn the heat on low and you have a heating pad on while driving. Wonderful to keep clean , love my leather seats. Paulette

I've had leather seats for years, and wouldn't dream of NOT having it.

It's extremely durable, comfortable, and I don't think they're uncomfortable in either hot or cold weather...

My current leather seats are both heated AND cooled! The "cool" feature feels kind of strange at first, but it's pretty nice on a hot Texas summer day!
