Least Expensive Day to Fly

I don't know if this has been asked before. Which day is the least expensive to fly? DH and I were discussing this and I wasn't sure. We usually leave BOS on Sunday and return from MCO on Friday or Saturday. I was checking Jet Blue and it looks like Monday flights are less expensive than Sunday. Does anyone know which day is less? I figured someone on the Transportation board would know this answer. Annmarie

Typically, the least expensive day to fly is Wednesday (except for holidays).

Weekends are the most expensive days to fly, because they are the most popular days to fly. As you get closer to the middle of the week, when fewer people travel, the price goes down slightly.

Seems like most of the DING fares we've been getting lately are for travel on Tuesdays only. I figured maybe Tuesday was a really slow day for Southwest.

Sunday's are almost always busy. Saturdays can be lighter if you are travelling to a place not normally considered a vacation destination. I've found that, for weeks I go (DTW/FNT to MCO) Saturday is often cheaper than Sunday, but typically no more expensive than Friday. Sunday returns seem to be the worst.

I've noticed that Tuesdays and Wednesdays seem to have the cheapest rates available.

As a general rule, for MCO: Tues, Wed, and Saturday. (Yes Saturday, except for inbound flights that arrive before 10 am, which will tend to be higher priced.)

There are also some patterns which tend to vary by destination. Flights *to* resort areas will normally be most expensive on Fridays after noon, and flights *from* resort areas most expensive on Sundays after 3 pm. For major business destinations, prices normally peak on weekdays, especially inbound first thing on Monday morning.

It does not surprise me that a return from MCO might be cheaper on Monday than Sunday, unless it was a Monday holiday weekend.
