what is least crowded week in january. I thought the first week may be alittle crowded due to school being out. Does anyone know of special groups going in January?

There are special things going on in and around WDW. The marathon is Jan. 7th - 8th which will fill the hotels a little but is not bad. Then there is MLK weekend which will make the parks corwded over the weekend. And there is the builders convention in Orlando the week before MLK which is suppose to attract 100,000+ people. With all of that you would think everything would be packed, but it won't be. We've gone in January a few times and other than MLK weekend the crowds are not bad at all. That weekend is bad in MK but the other parks aren't as bad. We'll be there again this coming Jan. 12th -23rd. Maine :firefight

FYI -- There is a Builders' Convention in Orlando from January 11-13, 2006, which is supposed to draw approximately 110,000 people. We have plans for January 9 - 14th and I've been worried ever since I found out about this convention. Many people on these boards have tried to reassure me that it won't be too bad. However, I am still worried. I don't think the parks will be affected, but I am concerned about traffic, restaurants, Downtown Disney, the airport on the return trip, etc.

Just wanted to give you a head's up.

Thanks you guys that info is very much appreciated. I was planning on going the 9th through the 14th. Do you think the last week would be better?

We just called to make a quick trip down in Jan. Much to my surprise, there was much more availability in late Jan, early Feb. We booked Feb 12 for 5 nights at the Beach Club Villas.

Our kids aren't in school yet, so I'm not sure when most February vacations begin.

We are exactally 90 days out today - we are going 1/25 - 2/3. I called today for my ADR's and got every single reservation I desired at the exact time I requested - we are going with the Dining Plan, so I made 12 table service reservations - which included Le Celliar, CRT (lunch), California Grill, and Teppinyaki. The CM I spoke with told me everything was pretty wide open...he seemed very surprised when I basically had my choice of time at the 4 resturants mentioned above...so I take that as it won't be terribly busy. Or at least that is what I am telling myself!! ;)

Thanks so much for all your input. I think we will try to go at the end of Jan also. We went the second week in 05, and it was not to bad. But someone said there was the builders convention this year, and I think school is starting a little later. So hopefully this new time frame I picked will turn out well :earboy2:

I'm going in Jan , BUT I don't want to tell you when 'cause then it would get more crowded :) Just kidding!!

We're going last week of Jan/First week of Feb. We've gone this time of year in '99, '01 and '03. Literally no lines!

:rotfl2: To funny! I was thinking the same thing j/k. I think we are going to go the Jan 22nd through the 28th. I have not heard of anything going on during this time. My anniversary is Feb 7th, so we could turn it into an anniversary trip.

New room discounts for Annual Passholders have just been announced for 1/16-2/4 so that might help steer you towards that time period...assuming that Disney is expecting lower crowds then if they are offering "sale" prices!

I'm taking my mom down there for her first ever trip to WDW Dec 9th-18th and my 9 y/o GD really wanted to go. Because of plans already made and difference in touring styles between a 73 y/o and a 9 y/o, that is not possible. I decided early last week to give my GD a trip to WDW in January two weeks after we get back. We'll be there Jan 2nd-8th. In just two days I managed to get permission to get another week off work, got her dad's permission to take her, made resort ressies using the BRP, and managed to get all my ADRs (including CRT and PSB). Yeah, I was able to get CRT for lunch and PSB for dinner at 67 days out. :cool1: I also got Donald's, 'Ohannas (breakfast), Brown Derby, Sci-Fi, and Crystal Palace, all at the times I wanted. I've never planned a trip that quick. Doesn't seem like it's going to be too crowded that first week. At least I hope not.
