Least crowded week in December?

We were there this year the first week in December (we flew home the 10th), and found it much more crowded than we expected. Is there a better week to try for when we could hope for smaller crowds?

Bump -- I would love to know too. We are planning a trip in early December.

I have always read that the earlier in Dec., the better. We were there Dec. 2-8 '01 and it was practically empty (that said, it was just 3 months after Sept 11). We are planning our next trip the Mon. after Thanksgiving (Nov. 27) - Dec 2. I'm hoping the crowds will be pretty low. I have never gone any later in Dec than the first week, but again I have read that it gets busier the closer you get to Christmas. HTH. ;)

NOT CHRISTMAS!!! We usually go the 2nd week and have had very good luck. Any time before Christmas is pretty good. Christmas week was beyond packed. I would definately avoid this!

My last few trips have been the weekend after Thanksgiving, through the first few days of Dec...VERY low crowds, never waited more that 10-15 minutes for anything. The closer you get to Christmas...The crowds gradually begin to increase. Weather is great at that time of year also, but can get chilly.

I was also wondering if there were any big events any time in December (before Christmas). When we were there, it was Pop Warner week, and while it wasn't as crowded as holiday time, it certainly wasn't as empty as we'd hoped!

I didn't know about Pop Warner when I'd booked the trip, so I just wanted to see if there is anything else we might want to know about before we book our next December trip.

It's a tough call between the first and second week; they seem to be pretty much the same. I guess I'd have to give a small edge to the first week as Pop Warner is there the 2nd week (beginning with the first Saturday I think). But we've never had any problems with Pop Warner. The third week is not too bad but crowds start to build toward the end. The week between Christmas and NYE is the busiest time of the year, as in "insane".

We went the 15th - 17th of December in 2004. And there was NO ONE there. I think the week before schools break for the holiday is probably the best. Most people won't want to pull kids out just before a break, especially because many take finals then.

I am thinking of going the 5th to the 12th, how is the weather? Is it warm enough to swim???

We went last year from the 3rd-11th and found the crowds to be moderate. Not really empty though.
Weather wise...One day it got up to 80 degress. The rest of the time it was partly cloudy and around 68-74 degrees. It did rain but it was nothing a poncho couldn't handle.

We were there this past December from the 15th to the 21st, wouldn't go back this time again. Even though you may have thought the first week was more crowded than previous years for that time, it's probably still the least crowded week in December.

I placed a poll on here about the 1st 2 wks of December and the 1st week won by a few votes. So, we're going Dec 3-7.

7th thru the 17th I believe are the lowest crowds.

The first week in December has become VERY popular with DVC'ers and some Internet groups (all ears holds an annual get together that week). It has gotten busier the last couple years the first week in December

We went from 12/3-12/10 and found it very crowded. We didn't suffer because we had a touring plan and I'm a vet, but everything was very crowded and resort was mobbed.

We are planning on a quick trip 12/6 - 12/10. We are use to early Feb. crowds. Are we going to disappointed? How long are the waits? What dates will the Pop Warner kids be there? We are staying at the Yacht Club so I hope it won't we mobbed.
