Leary about having purchases sent to resort...

Someone please tell me about the whole sending your purchases to your resort process. How soon do you get your items? Anyone with negative experiences or does it work like clockwork? I've never stayed onsite until this trip, so I'm just curious. Is it like ME and my puchases "magically appear" in my room or are they sent to the front desk? Thanks! :)
 
Purchases are sent to the resort gift shop and you pick them up there.

We had lots of stuff sent...much was breakable and only one thing broke. At World of Disney they packed the breakables up in a great way. At the Emporium, they just used a bit of tissue and the Cinderella snow globe arrived without Cindy's head! We took it back to the gift shop, they were supposed to return it to the Emporium to get another, etc. etc...it didn't happen that way and DD finally got an intact Cindy snow globe in the mail yesterday (3 weeks later). So MOST of our experience was positive...just watch at the store when they pack breakables (whether you carry it or they send it).
 
to me this is the best onsite perk. We have everything sent to our resort, and I just go down to the gift shop at my convience. Never had anything broken or missing. I do wish they still delivered to rooms, that rocked!!!!!!!
 
We also had positive experiences. We never had any broken items. You buy it, keep your receipt, next day pick it up in the gift shop!! Made spending tons of money so much easier because you really didn't see how much you were buying until it all came back! One night my BIL and Step-dad actually had to hitch a ride with a maintenance cart because they were carrying so much!! On your last full day, however, you'll have to either carry 'em or pick them up at the park entrance at the end of the day because they won't deliver to your resort the day before you are set to leave and we were always asked our check-out date before they handed us the slip you fill out.
 

If I remember correctly, it gets to your resort gift shop the next day, in the afternoon (I think around 2pm, but I can't remember for sure). Because it is the afternoon of the day after your purchase, you can't have something sent the day before you check out.

It is a nice perk for staying on site. Sure beats lugging purchases around all day! :flower:
 
We do it every trip and I love this perk. Generally speaking it arrives in the resort gift shop sometime the following afternoon after you purchase it.

Knock wood we have never had anything broken or lost. Save your receipts and check the packages and you should be fine.

...and if you buy it at Pleasure Island, It's actually two days turn around, instead of the normal one, but they always make sure your not leaving before it will arrive if you do send it back.
 
Another satisfied customer. We have used it many times (I really dislike carrying things if I don't have to) and it has always been great.
 
I love this perk too :flower: We have used it many times, and I have only ever had one problem. A picture we bought of my dd with mickey was bent. It did make a difference as the photo itself had a crease in it. The gift shop cm called over to mgm where we had purchased it and they had a new one to us the next day :)

We had no problems with delivery to the reosrt gift shop. We did buy a Christmas ornament which was being personalized and that took 2 days to deliver, but they told us that up front.

What I am wondering about is we are splitting our stay in July, does that mean I can't have purchases sent the day before we switch resorts - or do I just list the new resort - we are planning on checking in early that morning?
 
I have never had a problem with having stuff sent back to my resort. They even call your room and leave a message that it has arrived. Nothing was ever damaged or missing. I love having my purchases sent to the resort, I hate having to carry it.
 
Very very convenient perk! I have used it many times without any concerns at all.

If you are staying in concierge they even deliver them to your room. :flower:

Ah yes, I remember they used to do this for everyone - at least at the deluxe resorts. Our second stay at the contemporary each evening we would enter the room and find our purchases from the day before. Even though we bought them I think it felt a bit like Christmas, LOL.

we have done it every time and the only minor hitch was once on the day we were leaving they came to the hotel a little late ( we were driving so it wasn't earth shattering)so now we don't send anything from the shops the day before we are leaving.
 
I haven't had a problem yet and I have had hundreds and hundreds of packages sent to my room or to my home. Just ask my DH! ;)

Don't forget You can always, even on last day, have purchases shipped home to yourself. If you tell the CM they do not charge any taxes. This will almost pay the shipping and last trip some of our shipments beat us home.
 
I have used this perk and had no problems. I have also had items sent to the front of the park.

It took the fourth try before my packages actually ended up at the resort. Twice at Old Key West and once at Grand Californian. Each of those trips, my packages got lost and they had them shipped to my house. But every time since, the items have been there the next day or so. It is nice to have so you don't have to keep up with all those packages. They even took the animals that my husband and I won for the baby and sent them to the resort. That was nice because on one try I won the biggest alligator in Dinoland and my DH tried to out do me but couldn't :rotfl:
