Leapster2 or Didj?

For a boy just turning 7, and a girl just turning 6. I have the $10 off coupons that expire on 9-30-09.
I need to decide which ones and go shopping.

I wouldn't do the leapster 2... and haven't really seen the didj to know enough about it.

Last year when my daughters were outgrowing their pixters (they were 5 and 7 at that time), was looking at the leapster 2's, and seemed too "young" for them.
If I remember right, the age range for those is up to 8 yrs old.

Ended up actually getting them the Nintendo DS's for Christmas... along with 3 educational games each.. and they love them. Got them the brain age and brain quest games, and some math and spelling ones too... They've also gotten a few "game" games in the meantime which they love playing each other using the built-in wi-fi...

Wanted to add too.. I'd go to walmart and look in their clearance section.. saw quite a few leapster 2's there for $39.99 last week when I was there.. and fairly certain I saw some Didj's for about that price too.

Might be a bad sign if they're clearancing them that they might stop making the cartridges for them (although with the Leapster, they have so many out now, wouldn't really matter with that one.. sure you could always find some somewhere.. but hadn't really seen too many Didj cartridges out yet).

My boys are 4.5 and 5.5 and have the Leapsters, they have had them about 2 years.

Next year we will probably be looking into Nintendo Ds for them. The games are perfect the them right now, but much longer they will get bored.

Check the games out for each one. Decide which has games you think your kids will play and then buy that. I must admit that I was going to buy my DD a Didj this year too, but after looking at the sad selection of games, I have decided to just buy a DS Lite.

My 6 and 8 year olds are done with Leapster, and have DS's, as do their friends.
