Leapster Gaming System

We're planning on getting my 4 year old daughter a Leapster before our vacation in December, to hopefully keep her occupied on the plane. I know the tag says 4 and up, but does it really keep a 4 year old's attention span? What games are good for the younger kids? Anybody?

we got this for my dd (now six) for her 4th birthday. It has consistently entertained her! She will forget about it for a few weeks, but usually when she sees her younger dd (almost 3) playing with it, she gets renewed interest in it.

Her favorite cartridge at age four was the disney enchanted princesses one (the pre-K level one). Honestly, she also really likes the drawing game as well as the shape sorter one that just comes standard with the system. She also likes the backyardigans one.

This 'toy' was a great investment. Older dd has loved it for 2 years, and now younger dd is showing interest.

Thanks for the info......does it work with headphones to keep the noise level down?

we've never used headphones, but I just checked and there is an input for them.

I'm pretty sure ours works with headphones, but DD is asleep so I can't ask her. I think the Leapster (not the Lmax or Leapster 2) will be a Black Friday special at Walmart next week. There's also a code on the Budget Board for a percentage off if you'd rather order from Leapster.com

I really like ours, she got it for her 4th birthday and it gets bursts of use, mostly on long car trips or rainy days. I definitely feel that we got our money's worth. She liked the Dora games (not pinata though), the Diego games, the Disney Princess game, and the Pet Pals games best when she was younger. Now she likes the learning games that concentrate on letters and spacial recognition like puzzle games.
