DD2 soon to be 3 has decided she wants a GREEN leapster for her birthday next month. Her sister has the pink one and DD2 plays with it more than DD6, but of course everytime DD6 sees her with it she has a COW!! ( I let her play with DD6 is at school:rolleyes1 anywho..I wanted to know if anybody has seen any good deals or discount codes or anything for these..I don't want to pay full price for another one.

TIA!!

I did, but I am a little paranoid about buying electronics on there. I would rather buy it somewhere here so that way if I have an issue I can just return it with no problems. They are not that much cheaper than the stores so it is not worth the hassles to me.

I need this info too. DS5 loved his Leapster, but one day the screen just stopped responding to touch. We've tried different cartridges. The game starts up, but when you try to sign in to play, it doesn't acknowledge that you have touched the screen.

So, we are looking for a good deal, too. I don't like the idea of paying full price for a new one.

Contact LeapFrog - they may send you a brand new one. I had ordered my daughter one off ebay in February 2004. Last Fall (October 2006) the center of the screen stopped responding to touch. I contacted Leapfrog, via their website, told them of the problem and that I didn't have an actual store receipt. They told me to mail them my problematic Leapster and they woudl either fix it or replace it--about 2 weeks later a BRAND NEW Leapster arrived in the mail. I honestly couldn't believe it! Great Customer Service--I got this tip to contact them via the Dis--so now I can pay it forward. Good luck!

Bibbidi,
That is encouraging. I had shyed away from contacting them because I had heard that Leap Frog had poor customer service (source from another website giving product opinions). I think I will give it a try after hearing your good report. Thanks.

I had absolutely no problems with them whatsoever, I never even talked with anyone--it was all done through their website. I want to say at least 3 different people here on the disboards encouraged me to contact them and see what could be done and they were right, they were great about replacing it. Hopefully things will go as smoothly for you.

You might just need to recalibrate it ..... A quick internet search found this :

(1) Insert a cartridge, turn the unit on and wait for the sign-in screen to appear.(2) Hold down the Home, Hint and B buttons simultaneously.(3) When the screen changes, press the A button.(4) Using the Stylus, touch the center of the targets.

That's a good point Pantherlj, but my leapster actually couldn't be recalibrated because the screen didn't recognize the stylus anywhere in the middle center of the screen. Not sure if the OP is having the same problem I was, but this is a good suggestion on your part.

:thanks: You guys are so sweet.;) Thank you so much for your help and advice. I've already sent of an e-mail question to Leap Frog. Then I read the post about recalibrating the screen. Good advice. I tried it, but once I got to the "target", there were only words, no target, and the screen didn't respond to any touch. I really appreciate all of your hints for me. Hopefully I will hear back from Leap Frog soon. I'll keep you posted on how customer service goes. However, I have to apologize to the OP.:flower3: I really didn't mean to hijack your thread. I hope someone knows of a good Leapster deal. (I may need it too if this customer service thing doesn't pan out for me.:)

This happened to my daughters also. We ended up purchasing a new one at Toys R us and bought the service contract for 9.99 good for one year. Leap Frog only offer a 90 day guarantee. With the amount they are dropped it's worth the price.

I don't mind..I am glad they can help you out!!:grouphug:

I was at Target yesterday and they had Leapsters for $49.99 (reg $59.99) and they had the games all marked down to $19.99 (reg. $24.99), so I got the green one like she asked for and I got her 2 games and if anyone who asks for a gift idea I will just ask them to get her a game or something cheaper!! :goodvibes

I'm glad you were able to find a deal. Both my girls absolutely love their leapsters, they are easily one of the best gifts they've ever received. We keep all the games in a small tupperware container so they don't get lost and it's nice because we don't have to buy two copies of each game-they know they have to take turns.

Great! I'm glad you were able to find a deal. I'd jump on that too, but after e-mailing back and forth with the Leap Frog support people, they've asked me to send it in for a new one. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to give their customer service a try, and congratulations on the great deal to the OP.:thumbsup2

We do the same thing! My older two have the Leapsters & my youngest plays theirs (she is getting one for her birthday this month). I didn't want to buy them each their own games (way too expensive) so I bought a Rubbermaid box which all the cartridges go into & everyone shares. Works great!

I am glad this worked for you but in the future I would really encourage people NOT to buy this. Save your ten bucks. Leapster may say they have a 90 day warranty but I have returned a leapster after more than 3 years and gotten a new one as well as being sent two new LeapPad pens well after 90 days too. (They make you pay $5 for the pen nowadays but they didn't used to.) I have never been more impressed with a company's customer service than I am with Leap Frog.

Off to Target! We've been wanting to get one for my youngest dd - these savings will really help!

Great!!!!! My DS has the green one and ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT! He's had it for 2 1/2 years and we have not had ONE problem whatsoever!!!!!!!!!

HAVE FUN!!!!!
