Just booked Le Cellier at the 164 day mark for dinner at 8:30pm for 6 people. I was happy to get the reservation and I knew we were going to have to use 2 TS.
The filet mignon is $26.99 at lunch for 1 TS and it is $41 at dinner for 2 TS.
Is the lunch size portion smaller or just less expensive because it is lunch?
If it is the same, I think I may try to snag a lunch reservation instead.
Thank you.

The lunch filet is 5 ounces while the dinner filet is 8 ounces. So technically, the dinner filet is cheaper per ounce of beef (the risotto portion is probably similar). The dinner risotto looks slightly different, it seems to use bigger mushroom pieces. And also the beef at dinner is from Canada, which seems fitting for a supposedly Canadian steakhouse - I can't speak about quality, but the Canadian beef is probably more expensive than whatever bulk provider Disney used before.

That's why we did lunch. We thought the lunch menu was great and we all enjoyed our meals. The portions were large and we were all stuffed. I couldn't even finish my side of mushroom risotto even though I really wanted to. I realize the portion for dinner is probably larger, but I definately didn't need it. We felt better at the end of the meal paying a lot less for a wonderful lunch than we would have if it was dinner.

Lunch reservations for mid october. Our meal is at 1:25pm which is early but ok with me. We will probably share a late night pizza between the 4 of us back at our resort if we get hungry again. Couldnt find it in myself to do 2TS for Dinner. I would rather do the Yachtsman Steakhouse for 2 TS. much better steak choices.

If you're using credits as opposed to paying OOP, then yeah lunch is a better value. Paying with cash, I think the price is fair, but paying twice as much (effectively what the DDP does) isn't worth it.

$41 for an 8 oz filet?! Honestly, Disney prices don't generally shock me b/c I expect them to be inflated, but wow! Am I the only one who thinks that's exorbiant, even for Disney?

That's consistent with the prices at other signature restaurants, and this filet seems much more popular than the standard filet, which is why they feel comfortable with the markup.

And if that's bad, why is $27 for a 5-ounce filet (of supposedly lower quality) reasonable?

A little OT, but:
I've been finagling the ADR's I made back in Feb. (We'll be there 8/2/11 - 8/12/11)
Was able to book some restaurants that really surprised me:
LC - both lunch and dinners available at "usual" times yesterday.
Could get CRT for B, L, and D!
Got Calif Grill for Aug 4 late evening - later cancelled in favor of
Citricos
Was able to get Sanaa for lunch &/or dinner throughout the time period,
and Jiko for dinner as well
I moved Yachtsman dinner several times without a problem
Had no trouble moving Flying Fish
Changed Mama Melrose F! Pkg to Aug 9 at 4:45PM without difficulty!
Booked a 7:45PM ADR for La Hacienda (for Illuminations)
About the only place that seemed to consistently come up as "unavailable" was Ohana's. (That's ok - cuz we really don't care for it so much anyway... Not to say that alot of other people don't find it to be great.)
I'm NOT bragging - just saying that it doesn't hurt to try - even way past your 180 day mark! I've never been able to book these ADR's so late or so easily. (I could have afforded myself a few extra ZZZ's way back in Feb; had I known this!)
Good Luck!

I think LeCellier is a bad situation. I think Disney took advantage just because of the popularity of the reservations to change this restaurant to Signature status. So they made a few minor changes, mostly to the price for dinner then upgraded the status. Because LeCell was sooo booked as far as ADR's they decided to do this. Its solved the reservation problem because it is reletively simple to get a dinner res. plus they increased their revenue by increasing price and costing people 2 TS credits. Try now to get a lunch res. much harder. Wont be long before it is entirely Signature and probably would be already if the decor was a bit more upstage. To me it doesnt have the same feel as some of the other Signatures. But it is still one of my favorites.

Did you book on-line or by phone? I love booking on-line, but I've had more success by phone. Just wondering what worked for you. Some of these ADR's are truly remarkable!

I booked on-line. I couldn't believe how unbelievably lucky I was.
I entered a date and time and just went from there.....

Not much more to add, since you are right on target.:thumbsup2

I have to agree with this. We're about 50 days out and I just made changes last night with no problem, and for exactly the times I wanted. I had Les Chefs booked on a Sunday and I realized Remi wasn't there on Sundays, so I swapped my Coral Reef on an earlier day to Sunday and moved Les Chefs over to the Coral Reef spot...all at exactly the times I wanted. No problem at all.

Really, the only problems I've had is Yak and Yeti at lunch for 7, and Ohana at dinner for 7. I really think if I had a smaller party (2 or 4), I'd have no problems whatsoever.

An 8 oz. filet here in Alberta (mmmmmm Alberta Beef!!! :thumbsup2 ) will cost about that much. It isn't an inflated price.....it's a pretty average price.

Not so shocking - Le Cellier is based on the Canadian restaurant, The Keg - this is from their menu:

FILET MIGNON Tenderloin wrapped in applewood smoked bacon. The ultimate in tenderness.
(7 oz) 30.95 (10 oz) 35.95

and Disney imports Le Cellier's meat from Canada. So the price is quite responsable when you consider how much the shipping must be.

Both my husband and I had the lunch filet last Friday, and it was enough for both of us - although we did also have appetizers (but small ones) and dessert.

Honestly, this was the restaurant that was "eh" for us - the filet was tender, but really over salted and I though the risotto was undercooked by quite a bit. But, our kids liked having the steak for a change from the typical kids choices. And I really liked the fruit crisp for dessert and I had a non-alcoholic smoothie instead of my usual iced tea, that was raspberry based and really good. The pretzel bread was really good too - my five year old ate two of them! Also, we got in quickly, it was comfortable and our waiter was very good.

So, I wouldn't want to pay OOP, but if I was using the dining plan, I'd probably go again for lunch and try the salmon.

Also, I'd avoid CRT - bad food and poorly ran, we waited forever - even after they knew we needed to get done within 80 minutes to see our son's band perform. For some reason, the Jasmine we had was totally not interested in the kids either. She just talked to the other princesses. Breakfast at Askershus was ten times better.

A note about 'oversalted'...this does not surprise me and speaks to Le Cellier's authenticity. Canadian food of all kinds, from bread to soup, has considerably more salt in it than American food.

Canadians consume more salt than americans...is that possible? Thank goodness you have public health care:rotfl:

We will be going to Le Cellier for the first time in October. I debated over the lunch vs dinner (2cr) and decided to do dinner. IMHO I do not feel that if the lunch filet is $26 for 5 oz and the dinner filet is $41 for 8oz that the lunch is a better deal. Dinner always costs more at most restaurants often times for entrees exactly the same. Buffets add one or two items to a dinner menu and up the price $10 for dinner.
The new dinner menu just looked better to me overall than the lunch menu also.
Another thing about eating in an Epcot Restaurant vs say a resort for steak is you are paying for the atmosphere.

My DH has had 6 and 8 oz steaks at breakfast so I know dinner is the way to go for him to be satified.

This would not be the case if it's true the previous meat was shipped in from Australia. :confused3
