What is it about Le Cellier that makes it so popular? Is the food really that great?

IMO, no it's not that great.

It's a very small restaurant with limited seating, which restricts the amt of people that can get a reservation. It's also a 1 credit steak place on the DDP - the only steak place that is one credit, now. Since their prices are so close to what a signature spot charges, you can see why someone on the DDP would find it worthwhile to fight for a reservation. It's a great value.

I had a bad experience there with terrible service and mediocre food but I readily admit I likely had a fluke experience. That said, as someone paying out of pocket for my meal, LeCellier did not offer the atmosphere, menu, quality, and service that I would expect for the price point they are at. I'd much rather hit a signature spot that does.

I agree with Aimeedyan that if I was paying OOP I would choose a signature dining location instead. That being said, we do the DDP, so Le Cellier is an excellent value for us.

We have had very good meals each time we have dined there. It has been our best non-signature dining experience.:)

We do think it is that great. So great that my DH requires that we go there twice each trip! The mushroom filet is great. We have never gone to a signature restaurant to compare but we are going on the DxDP in January so I can tell you my thoughts then. Oh and we booked Le Cellier twice for this trip too!!! :woohoo:

I have only eaten there one time, but I thought everything (except the cheddar cheese soup) was above delicious. The entrees, the breadsticks, the drinks, the desserts, all were wonderful and I would love to eat here again. If I ever make it back.....................

I totally agree! We too pay OOP, but use DDE (or Tables in Wonderland). For $3 more for the filet, I don't have to give it a 2nd thought. I'd go for the Signature restaurant everytime. That said, we prefer Chefs over LC, so that wouldn't be our 1st choice if we were using the DDP. LC provides a good steak w/ a good value on DDP. We think it's okay, but definitely not excellent.

We love LeCellier. The Cheddar Cheese soup and mushroom filet are yummy.

i always make sure to get a reservation at le cellier on my trips. 1 of the better values on the ddp id say. its not quite yachtsman quality but its up there.
mad at myself right now as i cant get a reservation this upcoming trip as it was a little last minute. they are pretty well booked for a bit and ive been checking in on canceled adr's for the last 2 weeks.
usually a early dinner prior to illuminations as i chow down like a pig.
try to split the cheddar cheese soup and the sausage appetizers.

I am trying to pick somewhere really nice and really good. I don't mind using 2 TS. Any suggestions?? How about Narcoosee's?

I don't think Le Cellier is great. I like the cheese soup and pretzel bread but the steak is not so good. I've been several times and I just don't get the hype. At first we thought it was just a bad day but it's been consistently bad so we don't even go anymore. When we want a great steak we go to Yachtsmen Steakhouse or California Gril my DH really likes the filet at Jiko, I've never had it.

We loved it when we went for the 1st time last year! As we were walking out DH says "Lets come back later in the week to eat here again". I had to laugh and tell him that that wasn't gonna happen. I had to jump through fiery hoops to get us in there THAT time! :rotfl:

I agree with the other posters if I was paying OOP I wouldn't squish that idea and go somewhere else but I think for the DDP that is a good value. :) The food isn't that bad

We love it. The food and service is great. My dh always gets the herb crusted prime rib. Enjoy

We were there several days ago, and for the first time I realized that it really is not as good as I want it to be. The cheese soup and pretzel bread are great and we've always had wonderful service, but many of the entrees are just OK. I do love the prime rib sandwich they serve at lunch, but have tried several dinner entrees and haven't found them to be that great. For example, I tried the prime rib on our recent trip and it was chewy and fatty. The prime rib at Boma is way way better.

We have been there for dinner and lunch and really enjoyed both but I dont think we will do lunch there again as it was too heavy for us and we felt sluggish the rest of the day.

Dinner was incredible but now that the bbq filet (DH fav) is no longer on the menu we have picked other places for a great steak like Cali Grill, Jiko, Yachtsman, Kona and Grand Floridian Cafe

If I were paying OOP, I'd go elsewhere. On the free DDP though, it was a great deal!

We went last year and we really loved it. DH and both I had the maple bbq filet and it was delicious! Although, DD and I are going on our trip next week and I heard they don't have the maple bbq filet anymore. I DETEST mushrooms so I don't know what I'll get this time.

It's good there. I think cause it's so hard to get in everybody wants to try it so that in my opinion makes it hard.
