Hi-Last summer, we tried Le Cellier for the 1st time. I was rather excited because of all the hype but left there beyond disappointed... The biggest problem was everything was beyond SALTY. I had ordered the Filet with mash potatoes and the soup.. I know my taste is quite salt sensitive but this was worse than mouthfuls of sea water. It was impossible to eat any of it.. Thinking it was a fluke, I did try the soup at F&W last October and it was just as salty... So, am I the only one that has this problem at Le Cellier. we are headed to WDW tommorow for around 10 days and I'm toying with the idea to try again but since it was our worst meal last summer- I dont know ... Anyone else find the food too salty here and has anyone requested a low-salt dinner here and had any sucess?

Have not had that experience there...we have always enjoyed the food at Le Cellier. Which is not to say that you didn't get too-saltyfood:you may have gotten a plate served up by a salt-crazy cook. I had that happen last trip at Tony's with overly-salty grilled sandwich. No one else at the table had terribly salty food, though, so I know it was an individual mistake on my food.

Disney restaurants are very good at cooking to order for dietary issues...if you're very salt-sensitive, you can always tell your server you need low-sodium food. They are very good at accomodating people-will leave off sauces, not use pepper, etc. - even a preference for no added salt.

I was worried about this too after reading some posts before we went about the food being overly salted. I don't eat a lot of processed foods and am fairly sensitive to salt myself. I never salt my own food and usually buy low sodium and/or no salt added foods whenever I can. That being said, I felt the cheddar cheese soup was rather salty in May. The pretzel bread didn't help as, of course, it has the large pieces of salt baked on top. I ordered the mushroom filet with risotto for my entree and didn't feel it was too salty at al thoughl.

Not sure if you're more sensitive than I am or the kitchen was just using too much at the time. I would stay away from the soup if I were you but I would give it another chance if you're able to get a table for the entrees.

I didn't notice oversalting during our last trip (Dec, 2009), but then I'm a canuck and we love our salt. So maybe the restaurant is just trying to "be more Canadian."

I had a similar experience. I also ordered the soup, and the filet. I couldn't believe how salty it was! It was to the point where i couldn't even choke it down.

DW and I had the same impression. The cheese soup and the filet were both very salty.

The one time my family and I went there for dinner, we had one of the worst meals at Disney... EVER. The food was nasty and none of us finished anything on our plates. That night was the first and last time any of us would be going there. I still don't understand why everyone raves about it...:scratchin

Not salty in May. I did have steak though. I tried daughters cheese soup. Did not notice any salt taste.

Food was great. I hope they do not change this to a signature restaurant, which would take two credits.

I didn't find an of the food at Le Cellier to be salty, but you might have just had a bad experience. Sprry about that.

Sorry to hear these posts about LeCellier. My DW and I were there in September. After reading all of the hype, I didn't think LC could live up to it, but they did that and more. The service was top notch and the food couldn't have been better. We didn't have that "salty" experience as some of you had. I will certainly be back again.

I have never eaten at Le Cellier and I do ususally add salt to my food. But I do think that my taste buds are sensitive to foods that are over salted, smoked, and spiced. So many people seem to love Jiko and, to me, the seasoning of the food was "over the top". But my husband loved it. My husband loves smoked meat, i have it. My husband loves meat marinated in Dale's Steaksauce. And I am thinking "how could anyone eat this?" Of course I can eat a whole onion, and my husband is looking at be like "ooh gross"

I guess everyone has different tastes and some of us have more sensitive taste buds than others. Sometimes I wish i wasn't such a picky eater because I do have to spend a lot of time and effort deciding where to eat or just decide "not to eat".

Yes. I found this in May 07, I had the mushroom fillet & found it so salty. Havent been back because of it, but we have booked for this August, though I might ask for the duck starter as my main, as that was fine.

That's interesting because I thought the same thing in May when we were there. I don't remember the soup being that salty when we were there in 04 and 05. We loved it as it was. My first taste of it this time was surprisingly salty (I attributed it to the bacon and finished it anyway). I also thought the breadsticks were saltier than I remember. I had the grilled steak salad and though it wasn't overly salty, I wasn't fond of the dressing. We don't use much salt at home so I am sensitive to it.

From a fellow Canadian I found Le Cellier's food to be WAY too salty. I could taste nothing but salt in everything I ordered...with the exception of dessert.

It was by far our worst meal...I'd definately ask for no salt the next time we eat there.
